Suzo trackball question
«
on:

I have a Suzo Trackball that I bought from Ultimarc. I am in the process of installing it and am having some space issues.
Do I really need those plastic covers that go over the encoders? They are really getting in the way. Do they make a difference to the performance of the optical sensors?
Thanks!

I've got the same trackball, however not in use yet. I think the covers are for protecting from any light coming in, so if your cp is closed it should be OK. Or maybe they should prevent dust ? I'd say give it a try withouth them.

My CP might have a bit of light going on with all of the LEDs running. I guess I will have to see how it performs. At this point, I can't fit the covers. If necessary, I will make new ones I guess. Thanks for the response!

The covers are more likely for dust control puposes than light. Unless you have an IR source under your control panel, you shouldn't need to worry. Normal light shouldn't affect the sensors.

OK Thanks RandyT! I won't worry about it then. No IR sources under there (Yet).
