Glass or no glass
« on: September 13, 2010, 04:41:36 pm »
I just picked up my pinball cab and it doesnt have any glass in it.
What are the argument for and against bothering with glass over the playfield tv?

I mean it would protect it sure, but wouldnt there be reflections making it hard to see?
Would the LCD tv sitting on the table be realistic enough on its own?

Perhaps some ...er...whatchacall it.....  Perspex? Clear laminate?

You'd be surprised what happens when you have several people around your machines... You will definitely want tempered glass on the cabinet.

The glass on a pin, gets thrashed over time, what if sombody pukes on it??? Just saying.....
I vote for the glass.   [not plastic]  plastic sounds saggy over time.

Plastic will sag as stated above...  Also, plastic/plexi will scratch much easier than glass will.  Price wise... Plexi tends to cost more in the long run than glass does.

Alright then, but what about the reflection of the DMD screen on the playfield glass?

It's been a long time, but I seem to remember watching the pinball "bounce" up and hit the glass more than once.  Wouldn't want to have one of those hit me in the foot.

It's a "virtual" pinball table, using a tv as the playfield. Something would have to go very wrong for the ball to fly out and hit anyone :)
Hey Dudes thanks, for rescuing me, lets go for a burger.... HA! HA! HA! HA!
