Download from the MaLa website: http://www.malafe.net (http://www.malafe.net)
Thank you to all the beta testers and the MaLa great user base who answer forum support questions
Please put suggestions or possible bugs in a separate post rather than add to this one
Release Notes can be found on website under 'Version History' and below:
v1.73 (Nov 2010)
Improvements
Major compiler change. IDE being used is Delphi 2007 (no longer Delphi5).
Bugfixes
Fixed bug with Auto key repeat (using next letter or x skip)
Bug Fixes for Audio Fade rate and triggering
Bug Fix for Audio triggering when using Tree and Audio with Layout
v1.72 (Oct 2010)
Improvements
Put workarounds and logging in code to better handle failed graphic load attempts
PluginSDK - Added better plug-in configuration window example-
PluginSDK - Added Arzoo's MaLa stub tool
PluginSDK - Is now packaged with the standard MaLa download to encourage Plug-in development.
Removed the Unsupported Checkboxes on the Plugin list
Extra Logging
Added code to stop more than one instance of MaLa being opened at a time (only works with 1.719 and above)
Added comments to Mame.ini editor to advise if may not cover all options
Added extra logging for Playlist loading
Added auto pause to BG music if Video Screen saver is triggered with sound enabled Added hi info page and improved the way Most Played lists are configured
Removed Extra video check code. I think new Video Engine handles this better on it's own. :-)
Bugfixes
Fixed Bug with 'remove brackets on the fly' option. MaLa could get hung in a endless loop if brackets unpaired.
Fixed bug where selected game in list would jump up/down one item after orientation change (really fixed it this time)
Fixed BG Muzac for Layouts (I hope)
v1.71 (Sep 2010)
Improvements
Video - Made MaLa more tolerant of video types and now will also release handles on files if not playing.
Bugfixes
Fixed bug where marquess, control panel and definables where not being displayed if delay set and first item in game list selected
v1.70 (Aug 2010)
Improvements
Better errors if mame fails to create mame.ini when requested.
Dialog will now pop up if MaLa is not allowed to write to Windows registry rather than crash. This is for 'MaLa Start with windows' option.
Changed and hopefully improved the way audio volume is handled
Made even MORE changes to help 'rotate mame with MaLa.
Added 'Show Game Metadata' screen via right click. MaLa 1.654 - MaLa . Enhanced MaLa to auto up convert old 'Other emu' file formats. (eg *.mle)
Added optional delay for Game starting picture
Added Shift Keys for Joystick control
Muzac/ Jukebox finally finished transition to new Engine. No More bass.dll required.
Improved native USB hardware (LED & LCD) handling and setup. Still more work to do here as there is a minor bug where if you have two of the same types of hardware connected the item with the highest id get discovered and assigned first even if in MaLa you have it configured to be Hardware #2.
Gamelist Editor - Updated to allow correctly load older versions of emu file (like MaLa does)
. Made changes to help 'rotate mame with mala' with 'other' flavours of Mame
Added auto key repeat for 1-up/down to support older iPacs

Added Plug-in Events. Configure Start/Stop Events.
Added option not to loop video (play once)
Enabled Layout Video options to include animated gif's (not just avi's)
Layout Editor: Added 5th definable... I need to add this to MaLa later otherwise I just wasted my time adding it to the editor ;-)
Improved the logic with the 'skip to next letter' when dealing with games starting with numbers, also if partial way through a group of letters skip back to the first of it's type rather than the next letter.
Video2/layout video option implementation finished (I Hope)
Layout. More 'polish' work to handle Video2/Layout videos
Windows 7. Got startup routine to recognize if being run on this new OS
Layout Editor. Second Video window option added
Config. Added more verbose descriptions and logging for custom Layout options, and Other EMU MaLaHook loading.
Some collection options now shown in display box when refreshing game list for Mame.

Logging - Now can be set at Normal or Verbose Levels
Jukebox. Better labeling on config window to make operation more intuitive
Added hotkeys to switch to various orientations MaLa - Improved messages and logging when creating game lists and reminders in various places about the requirement to use mame >0.84 to produce XML files.
Added Definable images option of EMU's (other than mame) FINALLY!
Added Extra logging (in verbose mode) to show event info passed to the plugins
Number of buttons on a joystick supported increased to 32 (previously 12)
Hardware: Expanded to support the IOWarrior24 Chip to drive a LCD display
Video Engine replaced to improve overall MaLa stability and increase playback compatibility with a wider range of video types. This has taken several weeks of development/testing with a lot of help from a great group of beta testers.
Added MaLa Messages ability to switch to various orientations MaLa: When mame.exe is specified in options the user is asked if they wish to create a new mame.xml even if one exists.

Great work as always Loadman

Wow. That's quite a list of changes.
If I upgrade to this new version, is it possible to retain the old configuration. or do I need to start over?

The old config should still work.
I would keep your old a copy of your existing MaLa setup in a separate folder until you are happy with the upgrade

Works like a charm!
Mouse problems are gone.
ini problem still exists, it just doesn't see the ini file, but you can create one by running mame.
Now for my question:
I run MAME and Daphne. for MAME i have a horizontal and a vertical game list. For Daphne there is a third list with 3 games.
Would it be possible to add my 3 Daphne games in the horizontal list somehow?
-
ini problem still exists, it just doesn't see the ini file, but you can create one by running mame.
I think the problem is that MaLa is not failing to find the mame.ini but that the mame.ini is not being created.
Can you try what I suggest here please, and get back to me about what is required:

'mame.exe -createconfig' creates a mame.ini file. But when I start Mala, go to the menu and click on config, it still says can't find the ini. When I click on create, it comes with a warning that the creation failed.
I hope this helps.

Thanks for the great job. There aren't many new features that I need for my layout, but I'm sure many users will appreciate them. Thanx for the starting screen delay option. That's one of the features I had been longing for. Also, the animated gifs is something that I could implement if I decide to so some improvements to my layout design in the future.
I have been testing this version and I'm afraid I'm experiencing now something that I've never noticed before with older builds: focus problems. Everytime I exit a game from MAME, I can browse the game list with my joystick but none of the buttons work. If I click my mouse button, joystick buttons are active again. I suppose this is a focus problem. You mention 'Added 'Windows Focus' command' in the news list, but I've not found this anywhere. What do I need to do?
PD: Just a suggestion for the layout editor in future releases, which would be very handy for working with precission, and specially for those that make low res layouts: a zoom option, something like 2X, 3X, 4X, which would duplicate the pixels on screen. This way it would be easier to work. I sometimes had to resort to some zooming tools for windows when editing my layout. Just imagine how small a 320x240 screen is displayed in 1600x1200 in a 19" monitor.

I believe that my problem with the videosnaps and the screensaver of Mala have remained resolved with this version 1.71. ;D
Functioned 2.5 hours perfect! Never had lasted so much without being closed Mala.
Thanks Loadman, You are the best! :notworthy:

Yeah I think it is pretty good now.
I couple of known bugs with 'background Muzac (particularly if using Music set with layouts).
I will get to this in the next week or so.
-
I think I will keep the previous version for now. 1.71 has some loss of focus issues in both my computers. I've tried with the plugins but they have no effect. I'll investigate this. Maybe it has to do with my layout.

If you could raise (in a new separate thread) at what stages the focus issies occor and on what emu.
And how these issues differ between MaLa version.
The frustrating thing is I have some reports of but I have never had a focus issue, hence there is something on your system that I have not got.
What I need is detail please

Loadman-
I've been watching your Herculean development efforts from the sidelines for the last few months & wish I had time to try out your new revs & provide you w/ feedback.
As I'm swamped w/ work, though, I'm stuck w/ an older MaLa rev for a while, until work slows down & I can take some time off to upgrade MaLa...and install my Aimtrak guns...and configure my steering wheel...and clean up my CPWizard...and sort through the boxes of games I bought in Korea & Japan in May...
In any case, :applaud: for your efforts!

Loadman, I'll tell you more about my problem of focus with the new release. In order to make test and discard possibilities, I've used a clean version, using the standard layout and a new configuration. The only thing I've configured is the path to my MAME and roms. Everything works fine, I can move through the list of games and launch them with key 1. When I quit MAME, I still can move and launch games. I have found the problem very soon. When I select hidden dos window state, the problem arises. When I launch a game and quit MAME, the program looses focus. After a second, when the gamelist appears, I can see the windows taskbar and then no response from my keys, unless I click a mouse button. If I set the dos state to normal, no problem at all. Strangely the loss of focus with hidden dos window doesn't happen in all cases. I've been trying and it seems it happens with some games and not with others. Maybe this has to do with a problem changing resolutions. I've tried, however, with games using stretch and 720x480 (the same res on my desktop) and the problem is still there. To make this even more strange, I can tell you that this happens when I launch MaLa from Windows, not when I load it prior to explorer (launched from userinit in the registry). Also, the lack of control after quiting MAME only happens with my keyboard, not with my joystick, which could mean this has not to do with focus, so maybe the problem is somewhere else.

Thanks for your testing time. Works fine for me.
*) The only thing I added was a force focus command sent after a game is quit. I don't know if that helped or made it worse for others as it never happens to me.
*)If you use the focus plug-in you should at least be able to see what is stealing focus?
*) Have you tried on another PC to see if it something you have installed that is stealing focus?

I've been manually closing processes until I've found the problem: CTFMON.exe. Once it's killed, no more focus loss. That's the reason I do not have any problem when MaLa loads at startup before explorer, because there are no processes in memory. When I launch MaLa from Windows, if ctfmon is running, the problem of focus is there. I have tried with the focus logger plugin. Is this plugin supposed to do something or it just writes information in the log file? the log file says that no window has focus, and failed to set focus to MaLa. I've tried putting all the files in the plugin folder as well as in the MaLa root folder. Anyway, I can fix the problem, either but removing the ctfmon program from the registry, or automatically killing it when MaLa is launched from Windows (I run a MaLa-launcher.exe in this case which uses AutoHotkey commands to hide and restore mouse pointers on the fly). I'll just have to add a line: process, close, ctfmon.exe

I will see if others have this issue.

I have not seen focus issues with any build of Mala on any (XP) computer.

I have not seen focus issues with any build of Mala on any (XP) computer.
As have I ;) But a few have.
There must be some combination of factors that cause this for some others. As I can't reproduce I am trying to encourage others to try and work out what the details are.

thanks for this - nice catch

Thank you Loadman for your hard work and dedication to this project.
I've donated $15 to you today as an expression of gratitude, and in hopes that others who use this great FE regularly will do the same. I've been using it for almost 2 years now and I feel it's far overdue for me to show my thanks to your hard work.

First. Thanks for the update. I will donate next week when i go too the Postoffice sending the Harddrive to you. I have a Stiff plastic cab on my top torso and neck due to a carcrash (not my fault!), and i was the only one that was really hurt.
I have two things would hope to see in the next update. These are small things, but for me they are essential. First; There's no longer a Mala logo screen appering on start up. Great!! I want thing's to be as classic & autentic as they can be.
Then a request; Would it be possible to have user supplied start up picture and also a closedown picture. They should be independent. So that you can have one but not the other one if this is what you want. Also there should be the possiblity to have two different pictures, one for start up and one for closing. If it's not posiible to have a closing picture then the start up pic is of most importance but i would hope for both. Since this is a feature you can tick on and off they would not upset anyone. Then maybe a timer to count how long they appear . This would be great!
The other thing is really not for my sake more for beginners.
Under commandline emu presets theres a listing of known emulator's:
SNES not good> ZSNESW (This one should be taken of the Mala preset the sooner the better if you ask me).
(Won't respond to esc hook, wont go to full screen automatically. Who wants to mouse around on a cab.
It's hopeless in an Frontend. Some people who don't know better, will spend night after night on this, trying to get it ti mke sense.
SNES This is a good Nintendo Snes emu: SNEX9 requires esc hook and nothing more
SNES Mess 1.7, runs perfect, although there's a warning that there could be sound/video color suff to be sorted.
I've used for a long time in both 1.6 & 1.7 and have had ZERO problems. Needs no hook.
MSX emu BLUEMSX This is an outstanding emulator. Can be configuret as one pleases, and no headscratcing
MSX 2 emu BLUEMSX There's some good games for this machine. They came on cartridge from Activision many of them. I owned an Yamaha
The following should if possible be put in as a choice (as I've nothing against the ones allready listed, But these Mess emu's are SO easy to handle.
Atari2600 MESS
Atari5200 MESS
Atari7800 MESS
Atari Lynx Handyhack
Intellivision MESS
PhilipsVideoPac o2emhack
Magnavox Odyssey 2 o2emhack
Please note that I've put in the right info into Lynx/Videopac/Odyssey2. People need to get hold of the right 'hack'ed' versions if things are to work.
Thanks.

I'm having a problem when I press the "letter down" button several times fast it is sometimes starts rotating the screen over and over. I have no buttons set for any of the rotation functions in the advanced controller configuration tab. Any ideas?

Never heard of that one. Do you have Controller Mapping on ???
If no post the section of log (set to debug level log ) and your mala.ini
-
I am a bit of newbie. I don't have controller mapping on. I am not sure what the log you mentioned below is and I couldn't find an ini file. I found the txt file below which looks helpful. That might be it. Let me know. Also, is there a way to add and delete games from my favorites list in Mala? Or do I have to use the gamelist editor? Thanks for your help and great work.

Hi, Yes that was the mala.ini file. Better to attach the file (in aditional options) rather than dump file into the post next time. I had a look but nothing setting auto rotate in there. ?
FYI you turn on ldebug logging in the 'Credits,, help and Logging' tab
Sounds like you need a bit of help with all theis in general and I don't have time to exchange from the beginning. Just start a new post if you get stuck Try looking at the wiki. You may need to post in the general software section as well. Plenty of nice people willing to help in the forums if you really get stuck.
I would start with looking at the wiki, then search posts here for more help.
If you still have issues start a new post ... Have FUN!

Do you mean before and after a game? If so you can already specify a game start picture
If yoiu mean start MaLa then would you not get the same effect setting putting the picture on the Windows wallpaper. In any case how many time do you start and stop MaLa on a cab?
The other thing is really not for my sake more for beginners.

They are made in 'selection.ini'. You should be able to edit that yourself and post it here. I will include with the next release

OK! (I allways wondered what that 'splash screen' was :-) I dont use windows when running Mama in cab and i've made my own start and end pic's but the pallette is very restricted on those system pic's you know. That was why i was hoping for at start and end pic but i see your point. Sometimes my imagination runs wild.
-
OK! (I allways wondered what that 'splash screen' was :-)
;D Yeah just a name for a smaller loading screen
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Splash_screen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Splash_screen)
-
Loadman if the new gif animations shall be of any interest on the layouts then there should be atleast 4 or possible more (besides the original video box).
I want to use it to spice up my layouts with more gif animations. One animation possibilty is simply to little to make any difference if used for small gif animations. If used for video screen I can see that one extra is more than enough.
In properties there should be a tick box called 'original size of chosen picture/gif' so that the chosen gif ani appears as clear as possible.
I hope this can be included in the next minor upgrade. A few gif animations (not many, since this looks disturbing on the eyes), will beef up the layouts a great deal).
I want my Phψnix bird to move its wings, my pacman to eat and possible Pingo to walk on the spot wile pushing the block in front of him. (See attach)

Loadman if the new gif animations shall be of any interest on the layouts then there should be atleast 4 or possible more (besides the original video box).

Well if you are clever you could combine all those elements together in one gif/video ;D
Anyway. There is no easy way to add more gif windows at the moment. :'( I am not ruling it out but not any time soon.
As I ask in the first post in this thread please start a new thread for feature requests so I have some chance of keeping track of them.. Thanks ;)

This will be the last post in this tread from me since i needed your quote for things to make sense!
It's sad news that it's not easy for you to make some more video/gif windows. I do know that I can make a big animated banner but with all these things moving it will be a nightmare gif, and I'm also thinking on future layout makers.
Is it not much more easy to let the video windows be for just video, and then make 4 or more gif windows? I could imagine this way of handling the issue but my programming skills are basic. If this was possible then it would bring whole new life into the Mala layout looks.
The appearance / layout of frontends have allways been what attracted people (and then for many of us also flexiblity in the frontend editor and the main program)
Look at the Hyperspin Front. It was so over-hyped even before it worked. But it's really not very good, at least not for anyone who has a big setup, and for someone who wants flexibility. I'm sure it's fine if you have a few hundred games, and don't want to bother with graphics's yourself (But that's half the sport (making your own graphics).
Comming back to the gif's, the subject of this post: Do you think you could do some gif-only windows. It would be wunderbare!, as they as they say in Germany. And, maybe it's easy to implement. I don't know how the layout code is put together but making room for gif's are possible not more complicated than making room for a png or jpeg picture. But maybe I'm wrong?
Cheers
Henrik

Is it my mistake or do gifs not show the transparent background?
-
Added Plug-in Events. Configure Start/Stop Events.
Yeah! Gotta add support for that to Engine18
I'm finally to a point where I think I'll have some time to work on it again!
-
Loadman Did you reply my question if it's easier to make gif only windows?
(compared to the 'all embracing video/gif/etc' that you have now?)
Or did it get lost in my babble?
Making approx 4 gif insert points ('windows') should not be of any big task. I could be wrong, but I really cant see why I should be, as it would compare to have inserts for png's/jpegs in the layout.
It's of great importance to me as you might have gotten the impression of.
Henrik
PS: You should also note that the new video window freezes or disappears when you change gamelist, while still being on the same layout.
-
Loadman Did you reply my question if it's easier to make gif only windows?
Hi,
The Video / Gif window is the same thing.
The only reason you can play 'gifs in mala at all is that the video engine supports them.
I have no easy way to add any another gif support at the moment.

MaLa 1.72 Released.
-
Hey Loadman
Is it just me or does mala seem to "hang" while unloading for a bit. It +seems+ like it waits for whatever video is playing to complete before it'll close out completely. I don't recall it doing that before.
Haven't checked 1.72, but I'll grab it now and give it a whirl.
-
Yeah, I still have problems with MaLa. The background music works for the first layout then when I go back to the same layout the music doesn't play. Other layouts in the tree do not play their music. It takes a long time for Mala to start and change from layout to layout in the tree.

For the startup time. The log (in debug mode) should reveal what is taking time. IE graphics resize etc
As far as the sound issues are concerned, I have not checked MaLa (in Tree mode) for some time. I will have a look ;)
....Later
Yes I think I found a bug when using 'Tree Mode' and 'BG music from Layout'.
I will fix

Yeah, I Messed up the Logic in the Code. :banghead:
It loads the first bit of Music. When you move in the tree to another Layout it fades down the music but never fades back up....
From then on the state is confused and there is no recovery
I will try and finish fixing this week ;D

The music now works with all the layouts :applaud:. The only problem is the time it takes to load the first layout and the time it takes to go from layout to layout. I don't think the music is fading quick enough (even though I have it set at 100). It takes at least 15 seconds for MaLa to start and the same time (15 seconds) to go from layout to layout. Thanks for your efforts.

OK, Thanks for the feedback. ;D
It will go quicker if you set it lower (1 is fastest 100 is slowest). I have just changed the config window to make this clear.
I will look at that. If you could post me the logs in debug that would be helpful ;)
But please try this latest beta first.

Loadman,
with this new beta version of MALA, i think that the background music of layout works fine.
Thanks very much!
-
Yeah, it seems to work good now. I lowered the number and it seems to work fine. I will set up my tree for good ;D and I'll keep testing. Thanks Loadman.

The Layout Video (aka Video 2) window stays playing on the layout now matter what game is selected. It can be a Video OR a GIF. You set the path to this video in the Layout Editor. I think you should
just try it with a Test layout.
Some Examples:
The first One is a Video. The second One is a Animated Gif
mala106 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c8FzrrztZQw#)
malagif.AVI (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxLPrM4IMU8#ws)
ERROR DOES NOT COMPUTE... LOL mame plus plus which is mame 32 plus plus doesnt work with mala something to change in the newer mala version
I only 'support' the original command line version of mame. If it works in other 'modified /non original versions' of mame that is a bonus ;) Out of curiosity, what is the error?

Loadman I believe that I have found a bug in MaLa 1.73:
When in Music Level Sound is 0 (eg. exit with fade out of the Background Music), In Main Menu no longer can descend the volume of the sound (General).
Sorry for my bad english ::)

Yes Sorry I'm not sure what you mean. ???
Do you mean Exit 'MaLa' or a 'game' with FadeOut.?
What do you mean by 'decend'?
Do you mean 'General' as the top volume control on the options tab?
-
In the List of Games with the Background Music playing (Fade in/out activated).
Main Menu/Sound/Stop Music/Volume <-- Does not it permit to descend the volume of sound!
Thanks

Hi there, this vercion works good, but i have one problem, in some way is a recuest :lol, My problem is in MALA Tree:
Typical Mala Tree
Top Menu
|_Emulator1
| |_Gamelist1

|
|_Emulator2
|_Gamelist1
|_Gamelist2

What i recuest:
Top Menu

| |_Gamelist3
| l_exit emulator 1 (return to menu) (To be able for us to return whatever Menu we want) (Menu in another Menu for example)
l
|_Emulator2
|_Gamelist1
|_Gamelist2
l_exit emulator 2 (return to menu) (To be able for us to return whatever Menu we want) (Menu in another Menu for example)
To be able to exit the game list with the select boton on the arcade, i know is posible to return to the emulator menu with esc or custom botom, but this recuest, is gona show mala tree more profesional, and more simpler.
I make this recuest because, i think is gona make mala tree more profesional, what do you think?

I think I understand what you want, what I don't understand is why you want it.
Is the issue is you only want to limit the amount of buttons required to navigate the the MaLa Tree? :-\
If so is this how it would work in a more complex Tree?
Does it Go Back '1 Menu' to 'Top Menu'?

I've never understood this tree thing. Right now, I have the default settings, with '6' brining up the emu list. If I use the tree feature, could '6' instead cycle between emus?

Thanks
Hang on, Did you mean this? (see attached pic)
If so that is not volume it is a trackbar that moves as the song plays.
It only seems to work if the song is started from that menu (not already playing)

Hello Loadman,
I there have not touched, but I am going to utilize your example to try to explain.
In your example:
- "OK", and we go to Game List (The music is sounding).
- Main Menu/ Sound/ Stop Music (the music stop with the Fade out)/ Volume (He tries to descend it).
This only it happens if we have activated Fade in/out
Thanks and merry Christmas! ;)

Hi load man, i test the beta version, but i dont see aniting on the mala tree, and i whas tinkin that if you put exit in tree menu, im stil gona have the same problem in the game list, in resume, i think what i whant is very hard, and dont think you take your time to make it work for only me :'(, i feel sad, because i make my tree, and my layouts tinkin i can make an exit whit only limited buttons, i feel so stupid right now :-[.
i want to know what you think, of my problem.
Thanks for all man, you are the best, have a nice day!

I think you should take some more time to think about it (what you want/need) ;D
Ideally you should try to make it work with what is available in MaLa already :P
But failing that think about what simple change I could make to MaLa that would help you and benefit others too and I will consider it. 8)
What I don't want to do is do a heap of work that only benefits one person. Apart from time being used, the real risk in making major changes is I (not such a good coder) could break something else in MaLa :banghead:

You mean me?...or you? In any case, it was a feature that Maximus Arcade had. But no worries. This brings a question to mind: right now, when each emu is selected, the background music re-starts. Have you thought of being able to have different background music for different emus?....or is that more a 'pre/post commands' thing?
-

Well, why not use Maximus then? . I am not in competition with any other F.E. I do it for free (but accept donations ;D )

You can specify a track layout already so if you have MaLa setup to change layout per emu then you are half way there. Using the layout editor you can set the track, and in Mala select options-gui-layout 'Use background music from layout)

Thanks for the replys loadman, jejejejeje yeah i know what i want , i want a killer MALA ;D, that makes exits with limited buttons :D :D
what I'm go in to do, is i gonna continue with my project, and don't edit layouts, until i finish all my emus and stuff.
I'm gonna try to found a solution to make exit possible, maybe a hotkey, i think in a solution, I'm gonna test it in this days :dizzy:
funny stuff; where can i found error codes information from your MALA?, in pre commands option send me a couple of errors xD, like error 2 and error 195, but i found a solution any way, i only want to know how exactly works pre commands, maybe an example of estructure, by the way, cool option, loadman, you are the best :applaud:
I love you man, really, you make me so Happy with this Front end, noting is better for me. :notworthy:

I guess you need to know what your emulator needs to start a game, each one is different.
Other users on this forum can help you.
The bottom line is is you can launch your emaulator from a Command Line Prompt (found in XP in accesssories) then you can launch in from MaLA.
They Are broken up into different sections.
In the command Line Section Mala can set the path to the roms and the roma name (based on what you have selected in the game list)
The Command L:ine Section is usually all you need.
But some Emulators might need other commands first ?
I have no idea what those errors are as they are not MaLa errors.
Anyway if you have logging enabled you can see what mala is doing with this commands.
If it is not working try doing it by hand at a command prompt then get mala to do it
-
Thanks for the tip :o
Have a nice day, love you man :applaud:

Howdy-
It's been a busy year. I'm finally catching up w/ improvements to my cab.
Next on my list is upgrading MaLa from 1.6.3.4 to the latest & greatest, 1.73.
I've downloaded the zip file from malafe.net & it's chock full of lots of files.
What file(s) exactly do I need to copy into my current directory to overwrite the old files? Or, should I start with this new directory & copy some of my old files into it?
As you can tell, I'm concerned about messing up my settings, my game list, my directories & paths, etc. etc.
What's the cleanest & safest approach to upgrading the programs without messing with any of my personal files (which took me forever to put together...I'm slow...).
I know, I'll certainly make a backup of everything before embarking on this upgrade, but I still want to do the upgrade smartly & cleanly & properly. :)
Thanks,
-Jason
-
- Backup you old directory
- Dump all the files from the zip file into the new directory.
Thats' it ;D
-
Hi Loadman-
OK, I've copied & replaced all of the files in your new 173 release into my old MaLa installation. I've got a few questions/issues:
1 - Where does the MaLaPluginSDK folder go?
2 - The game list no longer jumps by 1 game when launching MaLa or when returning from a game. It did that frequently (but not always) for me. However, whenever I display the info window & then hide it, the game list moves up by 1 game. This happens whether or not I flip through multiple info windows--just the display & then hiding of the window causes a jump by 1 game. I'm using the letter T to show/hide the info window & I'm using the mouse (only) to scroll games.
3 - Clicking the left mouse button now also moves the game list up by 1 game.
4 - "Improved the logic with the 'skip to next letter' when dealing with games starting with numbers, also if partial way through a group of letters skip back to the first of it's type rather than the next letter." This works great--thanks for making this change. One further request (I forget if I already asked for this...). There are 3 games that start with an apostrophe ' & then have a number ('88 Games & 2x '99: The Last War). Can you please lump these games in with the games that start with numbers--they logically belong with that group.
5 - I removed my code in my AutoHotKey script to left-click a few seconds after launching MaLa. So far, I haven't had any loss of focus problems. Woohoo! :applaud:
Sending a few donation bucks your way as thanks for the work you've done for us so far & for my own selfish purposes of trying to get these tiny issues resolved. ;D
Thanks,
-Jason

1 - Where does the MaLaPluginSDK folder go?
Nowhere unless you plan to build plugins. I added this Software Development Kit in the normal MaLa download in a feeble attempt to encourage Plug-in development

I will look at that
Later.. I Think I have fixed this. One character typo in Restore Mouse Position. A Y needed to be X. I never notcied as I don't use mouse much.
