Anybody using Mamewah and Free Box (E touch)?
« on: December 16, 2009, 12:09:33 pm »
Trying to get a juke box onto the cabinet, e touch looked to have what I wanted, however, since I use a CRT arcade monitor, the resolution doesnt quite match (800 x 600 vs 640 x 480 (I think)).

I use Mamewah as the frontend and havent started e touch in Mamewah yet, mostly due to programing and time issues (I have only started e touch in Windows).

Based on your knowledge, would this even work or am I out of luck?

Thanks!

 yeah of course it can be done.
It is better if you run the program at the same res that your running your mamewah layout as. But if your monitor can take it ,run it at the best res for the program.
Dont forget Mamewah is a frontend and can pretty much run any program thru it.
i run skjukebox at the moment thru a bat file but there's no need with the new mamewah version , and this is what my ini looks like :

### Jukebox.ini (mamewah v1.68) ###

emulator_title                            JUKEBOX

### List Generation Settings ###
rom_path                                  E:\SK jukebox
rom_extension                             bat
dat_file
nms_file
catver_ini_file
list_generation_method                    rom_folder

### Execution Settings ###
pre_emulator_app_commandlines
emulator_commandline                      E:\Sk Jukebox\SK Jukebox.bat {nodosbox}{safelaunch}{autoquit}
post_emulator_app_commandlines
general_app_commandlines

### Artwork Settings ###
artwork_image_paths                       E:\SK Jukebox\images
movie_preview_path
movie_artwork_no                          1
enable_fuzzy_search                       0
history_dat_file                          auto
history_dat_artwork_no                    2

### Screen-Saver Settings ###
enable_music_in_screensaver               1
select_random_game                        0
saver_type                                gamelist_slideshow
movie_path
movie_fullscreen                          1
quit_delay                                0
saver_commandline

### Additional Settings ###
music_path
lcd_display_file_path
description_display                       [description]{scroll}

### Settings used by MAMEWAH ###
current_list                              0

This is what my bat file looks like:

@ECHO OFF
E:
cd E:\SK jukebox
skjukebox.exe

EXIT

l hope this helps

Thanks for the help.

I am home today, I plan to tinker and see what I can do.

Can Mamewah switch between res, if so, where is that in the ini files or other? Go from 640 x 480 to 800 x 600 and back again?

Thanks again.

  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.

You would have to make different layouts at those resolutions and switch to one using the desired res.

it really doesn't matter about mamewah res. as long as your monitor can handle it .
its just that if your layout is not the same as what your emulator is running at, when it goes to switch to and back to mamewah you will see the switching process as it does this which doesnt really look smooth.
