Second WG9800 in 2 months and another problem

My first monitor came and there was something wrong with it. It was the WG9800 model.  The right side of the screen was a yellow tint. Degauss didn't work and Wells Gardner told me it must be defective. X-gaming was very helpful and they sent me a packign slip to send it back. They even sent me a replacement before I sent the bad one back.  So I got the new one and it's been maybe 2.5 weeks now.  Last night I shut off my pc, and unplugged the monitor.  When I tried to power it back on next time, I heard the monitor clicking before teh pc came on, and then all of a sudden the monitor's screen went blank. I checked my power strip that everybody is plugged into, and everything is working but the monitor.  I tried plugging the monitor directly in the extension cord and it still won't power on.  I could smell a burning smell coming from the back.  I figured let me turn it off for night and let it cool down. Tonight after work I figured it up and nothing.  The monitor seems dead. This is the second monitor and I only had it for 2-3 weeks now, if that.  Do you guys know if there's a fuse or something that I should check?  This is getting really frustrating.  I thought that the WG9800 monitor wasn't an inferior monitor, but thsi is ridiculous.  I'm really hoping it's something stupid like a fuse that I have to replace, instead of sending this back again. Who knows, the third monitor might blow in another two months.  I really hope they don't try and give me crap about returning this monitor.  What do you guys think? Has anybody have similar problems?  I'm getting really frustrated obviously.

I'll confess I had the same exact problem. I RMAed back my first monitor, I will give it up to X-gaming their customer service was great and they shipped me a new monitor. But literally within a few months hardly more than a dozen hours on it, boom, the screen suddenly warps in on itself, and it is dead. Everything else on the power adapter works, but the screen just won't come on. Problem is my cabinet I am using was a little too thin had to drill insets to get the monitor in with the brackets so needless to say it is sort of "stuck" there and would be a major pain in the you know what to get out. And unfortunately I know nothing about working on monitors or electricity and cap kits so its been sitting there for awhile not sure what to do with it!

For sudden failures, a cap kit isn't usually going to do anything unless a cap is what catastrophically failed, and that's usually obvious.  If there was a burning smell, then "the nose knows": the part that smells burnt probably is.

As for fuses, there should be one fuse on the board near the power input connection.  Check it *with a meter*.  If it's blown, you probably have a shorted bridge rectifier - other stuff that causes that seems pretty uncommon.  If it's not blown, then something is broke on the secondary of the onboard SMPS (more likely).  Again look for obvious signs of damage such as scorching or components with holes in them (holes that shouldn't be there).  If you can better describe what happened when it went kaput, it might help localize the problem.

I'm going on a year's worth of moderate use with my D9800 and I haven't had a signle problem.  You guys are scaring me though.
