help with my first build
« on: November 09, 2009, 09:59:34 am »
Well i will start off with a hello, bit of a noob so just asking for some general pointers please. I have been looking around and finally decided to build my own cab. Well a new housing for my pc really, thats my plans. A desktop cab i think there are reffered to. Well my plan is for a cab around my PC for mame and other emulators. Q1. can i just use a PC monitor? i keep reading about discharging and poss of electric shock  ???
Q2. where can i get a coin door/mech from that will take all different GB coins. I have found some that just mimic indervidual coins but im looking for one so i can put in different coins. also any other hints/tips from people? I have just ordered my I-pac and will be getting buttons and wires soon. Concentrating on the controls first :D
anyways enough of my ranting, and thanks for any help in advance

Q1:  Yes, absolutely.  I've done this type of project with a PC monitor a few times now.
Q2:  Dunno, but I'm sure others will chime in.

Good luck!

Most coin doors have adjustments so that you can make them work with any size or weight or coin.

There's another thread that mentioned a pretty cool coin mech that can distinquish between multiple coin types

Maybe it's what you're looking for?
