Skippy Sound - Wallmount Touchscreen Jukebox

After a couple of near-miss prototypes, I'm finally done with this. It's called Skippy Sound, as it's for my Australian wife. I'll start off with some final shots:

I found a touchscreen overlay on eBay and added it to an old Toshiba Satellite laptop. Not much else inside really, as the jukebox is connected to my Onkyo amp & 5.1 setup in our lounge. I made the case from 2 circles of 1/2" MDF, plus a strip of Ben-D-F (bendy MDF), with a couple of support braces. Couple of construction pics:

I used U-Pol Extra car filler, Hycote spray primer filler and Hycote White Gloss paint to achieve the finish, which the pics don't do justice. Thanks to Ond and his retro-futuristic Mame build for the filler tips. Took SEVERAL applications of each and a lot of fine sanding, but it was well worth it.

I'm running the free version of XLobby. I tried all the other programs people are using on BYOAC, but found this to be the easiest to skin. I didn't want any fancy extras so XLobby seemed to be ideal for me.

What is it running inside?  How does it connect to your speakers?  Where are your speakers?

Yes, very nice.... love the clean look and the fact that it's round, a little more contemporary styling to me. I like it.

Does it just hang on the wall ? (seems to blend in very well with the wall)






And what's the story on the white Atari Heavy Sixer ?

As I said, nothing else inside. There's a power outlet and stereo RCA terminals in the wall. The jukebox just connects to those, which are connected to the 5.1 surround sound setup in the room.

Hey Kevin, it hangs on two screws that are rawlplugged into the wall. As for the Atari, it was a non-working one, I thought I'd give it a lick of paint. Just need a pair of white joysticks now...

  It was!  Very nice indeed, aesthetically pleasing and highly functional.  Hanging around here (BYOAC), seeing all the great Jukebox projects, I sometimes forget how cool something like that really is. I'm sure 'regular' folk who get a demo of that when they walk into your house are impressed.

As much as I hate using the expression - OMG! - Ond, a hit from you is well worth the elbow grease involved! It was your current project that inspired me to literally think outside the generic box on this one. Now, get back to your contraption immediately!
