Need help getting GPWiz and Mala to work together
« on: September 09, 2009, 02:17:31 pm »
Hello everybody.  Long time, no see.

I've been out of the arcading world for a while, but was recently setting up an old computer and have run into some troubles.   Of course, I know I worked through these exact same troubles before but it's been so long that I don't have any memory of what I'm supposed to do.

I'm using an old GPWiz (old meaning that I'm not sure that GGG even sells this version anymore) and it is working fine.  I have it hooked up via USB and I can test it out in WinXP and see that each button or joystick move triggers a different number.   Unfortunately, I can't remember how to get Mala to recognize each movement or button press as I think it should.

The thing is, Mala only seems to recognize 12 different gameport 'numbers'.   The GPWiz has 28 different inputs so on a 2-player control panel, I have buttons that are triggering numbers/nputs that Mala doesn't seem to even see anything above #12.

In retrospect, maybe this isn't a huge problem and maybe I figured some workaround, but there are buttons I'd like to use but can because Mala doesn't see them.

Thanks
qb
