Be wary when using nLite to mod your XP install!
« on: August 26, 2009, 06:41:41 am »
Hi All,

I found out the hard way that when "cooking your own version of XP with nLite, if you omit Windows Media Player  then MaLa cannot play videos!

All was not lost though, as I was able to manually install WMP9 and now videos DO work in MaLa. The install process failed as it wasn't able to find MSCAT32.DLL, so I simply copied it across from C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 on a full XP installed PC and then re-ran the install and it worked.

It makes me wonder whether simply copying the DLL file would have done the trick but it's too late for me to try that now!!!

I hope this info helps.

Cheers,
Chris
