USB Steering wheel suggestions please...
« on: April 02, 2009, 12:44:40 pm »
Hey all, I'm looking at upgrading my CP. I want to be able to temporarily mount a USB steering wheel on to it (Havent figured out how to do that yet - there will be minimum space on a SF2 layout  ???). So, does anybody have any sugestions for a decent usb steering wheel that has both pedals and buttons (for some spy hunter and stun runner goodness).

Thanks in advance.

I am using a Logitech Driving Force Pro:

My CP is a mameroom quad and has enough lip around the front endge to clamp the wheel.

Most Playstation wheels from logitech will have drivers that work for pc on there website, however they may be named differently, however the pc games that have in game control mapping/diagrams seem to get the wheels a little off tho...

Thanks guys. I think that Im working on the impossible. I need a change of startegy. I'll probably create a quick change CP that has a spinner & trackball and wheel.

I dug an XBOX steering wheel, pedals and everything, out of the garbage a few years ago.  It was missing the removable cable bit at the end, but I figured I could use it at some point.  Come to find out, they're actually USB with a proprietary connector.   :D

So tonight I'm going to splice a USB adapter and get my Outrun on.

Sorry to necro my own thread, just letting people know this is very possible, it was an issue with the game and not the drivers i was using.

My bad this wasn't the thread i thought it was.

Ditto for the Driving Force Pro.  The only game I've used it much for so far is Spy Hunter.  Couldn't get it to feel quite like the real thing (I had the real thing for a couple of years).  Not bad, but it doesn't quite feel like an arcade setup.

Although this link is more about modding the wheel than using it, there are lots of pics & whatnot: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=94398.msg992915#msg992915

Thanks,
