Here is my situation...
I just got the ArcadeVGA 3000 last week. I had previously been using an old Nvidia graphics card on XP and Soft 15khz with
the "Install 31khz" option. Since I couldn't get some of the native resolutions a lot of games use, I naturally wanted the ArcadeVGA. I've got it installed and running but every resolution I choose, other than 640x480 and above, the monitor produces this ear splitting sine wave (that's the best way I can describe it). This certainly can't be normal IMO because its painful to even stand near my cabinet for long. And no I don't have super human ears as it can be heard by anyone in the same room.
Now here is where I'm confused. Ultimarc is blaming my monitor, saying I should contact Wells. When using the Nvidia card, many of the resolutions I was able to achieve using Soft 15khz, in particular 320x240 and 368x240, produced no such ear piercing noise, so how could it be my monitor? In fact I could choose many low resolutions and never hear this noise. When using the Nvidia card, I only got the noise if I picked certain weird resolutions.
I'm very frustrated to have just spent $100 on this card. How could this possibly be my monitor when the Nvidia card produces no such sound at the same resolutions that the ArcadeVGA does? What exactly is going on here? I know my monitor can do these resolutions WITHOUT making this horrible noise because I've been using it for the past year just fine using the Nvidia card. Any ideas please chime in!
