What PC games do you have on your mame machine?
« on: July 22, 2009, 10:03:16 am »
After finding most of the old arcade games that i wanted on my arcade machine, I decided to look for some pc games to put on there. The main problem im finding is that many of them require you to have a mouse attached, and obviously i dont want to loose the arcade feel to the machine.
Im thinking ill have to find some software that will convert the gamepads input into keyboard keys.... Many freeware games dont have gamepad support at all. But i think ill avoid that for now.

i found that the Touhou games work well, and so far have Gridwars and demonstar on mine, and am going to try putting mugen on there too at a later date   :)

I was just wondering what pc games, if any, you guys have that can be played from just a gamepad that would be at home on my mala frontend.  ;D

GTA2
Outrun 2006 Coast 2 Coast*
Need for Speed: High Stakes*   (for its 2-player splitscreen mode)
Lego Star Wars
Star Wars Starfighter*
Grid Wars**
Guilty Gear X2 #Reload
Super Mario War     (this is the only one i really recommend for any cab)

* Admittedly pretty useless with my all-digital control panel. I have two USB extensions in my cab that I have 2 Logitech dual-action pads for... for 4 player games, and inevitably for playing these ones too.

** Barely playable at my max res of 640x480. will probably get rid of it.

they all open and close through MaLa without any problems at least  ::)
and i'm pretty sure most don't require any keypresses. but it would be a good idea to simulate some for anything that does, yeah.

thanks for the tip on Demonstar.
i had Mugen for a while, with a pretty good looking screen/character pack download. but having at least a dozen awesome fighters in MAME, i just didn't see the point of dealing with it.
