It wouldnt boot, and made a quiet clicking sound, so i gess mechanical failure?
that drive is ---fouled up beyond all recognition--- just get a new copy from ebay.! or someone else on here all you need is to use the western digital utility that comes w new drives to copy from old to new one remember to just format the new bigger blank drive and use same master slave or cable select jumpers and the best results on copy like the western digital utilty is to use same exact type and size drive to start w to see if it works then onto bigger drives..
if you get a new chd image on a new drive be shure to get its matching security chip copied too cause it has to match image it came w thats proabably keeping you from fixing game since the game is not in syndication anymore I wouldnt worry about the security encryption chip being copyied w its matching harddrive or cflash drive image GOOD Luck.
also I just figured out how golden tee roms work!.. gouge I reverse engineered it just thinking about it and seeing encryption chips on ebay.
HMM I could get into these types of problems and probably cash in and aslo have fun doing it I would not make a lot of $ not enough to get anyone company mad at me but I could figure out how to copy a hid drive if it was an original one w its chips and then the copy would probably boot.
I need to try it on a xbox original old one I know it would work w mod chip and there i hear is a new mod chip for the xbox arcade that lets the mod chip be turned on and off and clones the old one to make microsoft ignore then mod chip cause its hidden to them when online and when offline it lets you change games w bigger drive.. SO I bet you could upgrade a 120G drive to a 320G drive using the western digital ontrack utility..
I did it w xp pro corp oem vol licence version of xp and MSDN version of xp and it worked the machine thought it was the older drive once then i rebooted and it locked up the second time but then i repaired xp load and it worked again this was because i switch ed computer mother boards and xp got confused about boot sector info it wasnt the copy that caused the problem. so you should be ok to just get nother drive w its encryption chip and copy both! or just use the drive w a copy of encryption chip from working board set just copy drive image/partition w utilty then copy its matching security/encryption chip.
I did this wout drive on arkanoid I had 2 boards one w encryption chip and one w out i swaped copied a rom w the tatio (c) and put it into the bootleg one that said tayto and it worked then when putting it back into the original taito board it got static and i think it screwed the encryption chip up cause now it just counts down and wont boot.
both boards are not taito boards!! the bootleg tayto board still runs the ecryption chip is just a weird motorola chip hard to find i found one but number is weird it has window in it but since number is weird i dont know how to burn image to it w eeprom burner but since i blew it up and screwed the image up on it before i copyied it there is no reason to care.
but the original taito version worked on tayto board once but i forgot witch chip had copy on it and probably lost it the tayto chip board still works the way it was when i got it. so if i did that you could copy a harddrive image...
