Updated to latest drivers and BOOM! Scored an A.

Ah, duh, simple solution.

Nice work  =D

Just curious, what was your fps at what resolution?  (Make sure you turn off v-sync)

I was averaging somewhere around 75 fps at 1280x720. I had to turn off AA though or my scores fell below 60 fps.

So yeah, about the same as my 7900GS, which is how it should be.  Thanks for the info.

Hi all,

Well, I have the newer ArcadeVGA2 (PCIe) and I am having the same exact problems that XtraSmiley has.

Looks like this game will not work on an arcade machine running any kind of AVGA.

Yeah, it looks like I'm going to have to dump the AVGA and figure out how to run my arcade monitor with a nicer video card and get all the resolutions the AVGA provided.  I believe it can be done, but with some sort of foot work involved.

I would assume the controls are configurable. The minimum requirements list keyboard/mouse as required input devices, with X360 controller as recommended.

lol

I ran it on my current system and all I got was a big (I'm running 800*600) black box:o

Luckily I'm upgrading anyway.

If I'm getting an i7 920 can I get away with using a cheap video card, something around the $100 mark?

An Ati 4770 is the best thing going in that price range if you can find them, they sell out like crazy.

Yeah, I may have to do that as well.  My AVGA 2 is based on the X550 chipset (PCIe).  THE old AVGA (AGP) is based on the ATI 9250 chipset.  However, what's weird is the the Ultimarc site has the PCIe version listed as being the Radeon HD2400 chipset.  Hmm. Is there another AVGA2 I don't know about?  I'm going to e-mail Andy at Ultimarc to ask him to clarify.

Anyway, I may have to get an updated card that will run SF4 and then use soft15khz to get it to run arcade games in their native format on my Betson arcade monitor.  Sigh.

Make sure the graphics card supports Shader Moderl 3.  This isn't an issue for Nvidia cards as they moved up to SM3 support faster than ATi did.  Meanwhile with my X800, powerful enough for many games but gimped cause those games require SM3

SM 3.0 is old at this point, the last four generations of both Nvidia and Ati cards have supported it... ???

Anyone know off hand what the best ATI AGP card that also supports Soft15khz would be?

Yeah, I have the AVGA2 based on PCI, so there are a couple versions floating around.

I second the question as well, best card, must support soft 15khz, plus work on my Beston (which means an old VGA type plug right?) AND be new enough to play modern games.

Smurf, at this point I may pull the Betson out and sell it.  The better question might be, what LCD monitor fits in the hole it will leave?

I did it again last night with the Vsync off. Averaged 73fps, this is with everything maxed on 1680x1050. Also have two other screen hooked into the same video card so im sure that had some decrease on performance.

Hi all,

Well, I have the newer ArcadeVGA2 (PCIe) and I am having the same exact problems that XtraSmiley has.

Looks like this game will not work on an arcade machine running any kind of AVGA.

To follow up on the AVGA2 issue.  There are a few sets out there (confirmed with Andy at Ultimarc):

AGP Version of AVGA2:  ATI 9250 chipset - not compatible with SF4
PCIe Version of the AVGA2:  X550 chipset - not compatible with SF4
PCIe Version of the AVGA2:  Radeon HD2400 chipset - compatible with SF4, but unplayable due to extremely low framerates
UPDATE:  PCIe Version of AVGA 3000:  Radeon RV630 chipset - Guaranteed to work with SF4 @60fps

I e-mailed Andy at Ultimarc and he responded as follows:
My original e-mail:
"Hi Andy,

I was running the newly released Benchmark test for Street Fighter 4 (SF4) and I could not get it to run.  Although I can hear the game running, after the logos and intro screens, all I see is a black box.  Others have experienced the same issues.  However, there is some confusion as to what the specs are on the AVGA series of cards.

I believe the following to be true:
AGP Version of AVGA2:  ATI 9250 chipset
PCIe Version of the AVGA2:  X550 chipset

However, on your site you list the AVGA 2 PCIe version to be a different chipset:
PCIe Version of the AVGA2:  Radeon HD2400 chipset
Listed on this page:  http://www.ultimarc.com/avgainf.html

Which is correct?  Is there a new PCIe version of the AVGA2 out?  If so is it SM3.0 compliant?  Some on the forums believe this to be the issue.

Thanks in advance for your insight."

His response:
"The card has been HD2400 for around 18 months now.

The HD2400 is DX 10 compatible whereas the X550 ws not, so maybe this is the issue.

Andy"

Turns out I have the AVGA2 with the X550 chipset (PCIe slightly older card).  However, a buddy of mine has the newer HD2400 chipset (PCIe) and it ALSO does not work.

So there it is.  All AVGA2 cards are incompatible.   :banghead:

**edit**  The NEWER AVGA2 PCI-E card does work, but it is pretty much unplayable (very low frame rate)  so in my book all AVGA series do not work with SF4.  (see attachment with screenshot sent to me by Andy himself)
UPDATE:  The new AVGA 3000 is guaranteed to run @60fps at maximum settings!

I got an A as well but I did not look at my score, now I am going to have to run it again.  :D

I might as well join in...  This is on my main PC, haven't tried on my HTPCs or Cab yet, but I've got it on my 360 also so wasn't much of a rush...  This is with everything maxxed out...
