Questions about Online Vendor
« on: June 30, 2003, 05:30:45 pm »
Not sure where else to ask this so I put it here.

Anyone have experience with http://www.gamecabinetsinc.com ?

They seem to sell most everything Happs does but for a few bucks and cents less.  Anyone used them?  They trustworthy?  Shipping?

Not sure if there is any website (like Reseller Rating) that keeps tabs on arcade sites.

Appreciate any experiences cuz if they're good I would like to order from them ASAP.

http://www.therealbobroberts.com/ might have what you're looking for at even better prices.  I've never ordered from him myself (i will soon, though), but he has something of a cult following around here.  There's a recent thread or two in the main forum devoted to singing his praises.

I don't think he takes Paypal or credit cards, if that's an issue for you, but low prices gotta come from somewhere.
What was that again?

I haven't heard any actual bad stories about orders from gamecabinetsinc, but I have heard a few stories of out of stock items/etc.

The guy did manage to really get a bunch of people in the arcade newsgroups mad a while back when he went nuts spamming almost any and every thread with ads for his prebuilt cocktail tables.

Also, the Customer comments on his website are obviously fake. But like I said before, I haven't actually heard any bad stories.

But I do suggest Bob Roberts as my first vendor of choice. He sends extra stuff and ships fast!

I bought an ipac from gamecabinetsinc a while back. They charged me like $10 shipping and it still took like a week and a half to get to me. If I'd known it was going to be like that, I'd have just ordered direct from ultimarc.

wow, ipac is cheaper there than at ultimarc. does that make any sense, being ultimarc is their distributer?

That is called a loss leader. He buys a ton of them from Andy, then resells them at $2 less, making his profit off all the marked up joysticks and buttons he sells to one stop shoppers.

It is actually a quite common business model. Different companies use it in different ways though.
