Seattle June 12-14 Arcade/Pinball show

I'll be there. Lots of talk about this show over at KLOV, and a bunch of members are bringing their arcade games. This is the 1st year to include arcade games from what I understand, but it sounds like there will be a lot.

BTW - the dates are 6/12 - 6/14, not 17 like the OP states.

Here's a video of last years show, which only had about 6 video games.  This year there will be over 100 vids along with over 100 pinballs.

Are tickets available at the door, or do you have to buy them online?  Anyone know?

You can buy online for a discount, or buy day of show tickets at the door but they will be slightly higher price.

EDIT:  Discount for advance purchase appears to be for only the full the weekend pass.  Else $20 a day FRI/SAT, and $15 for Sunday, and less for kids.

The 2009 Northwest Pinball and Gameroom Show takes place June 12-14 at the Seattle Center

Seattle, WA, June 2009 -- Thousands of pinball and arcade game fans and competitors from across the U.S. will be attending the 2009 Northwest Pinball and Gameroom Show this June at the Seattle Center.

The show is the biggest of this type of event in the Northwest. The 2008 show featured over 100 games and drew 2,000 visitors. 2009 promises to be twice as big, with over 200 pinball machines and arcade games, the most ever seen in one place in the entire Northwest. Featuring games from the 1950s to today, attendees will get the chance to play all the games for free with the price of admission. While seeing and playing games highlight the festivities, the event will also include raffles, tournaments, guest speakers, console games, award ceremonies, over a dozen top level players competing for new world record scores and a number of celebrities from the pinball and arcade world.

On hand during the show will be plenty of special guests, including:

·   Steve Wiebe, star of the hit documentary “The King of Kong: A Fistfull of Quarters.” In the movie Wiebe waged an epic battle against Billy Mitchell for bragging rights to the world record high score on the game of Donkey Kong. Wiebe now holds the world high score for Donkey Kong Jr. and is working towards world records on both Donkey Kong and Popeye.
·   Bill Carlton, star of the award winning documentary “High Score: Beyond the Arcade,” which was released in March 2009. “High Score” follows Carlton’s attempt to beat the 20 year old world record on Missile Command.
·   Dennis Nordman, pinball designer of games including Elvira and the Party Monsters, White Water, Wheel of Fortune and Pirates of the Caribbean.
·   Walter Day, founder of Twin Galaxies and score keeper of the world’s gaming records, from ‘80s arcade games to modern Playstation 3 and XBOX games. Day is star of the documentary “Chasing Ghosts” and was the enthusiastic score keeper and classic game activist in the referee outfit in “The King of Kong.”
·   Greg Feres, pinball graphic artist and the man behind the artwork of Fathom, Medieval Madness, Revenge from Mars, Speakeasy, Scared Stiff, Strange Science, Dr. Dude, Star Trek: The Next Generation and many more.
·   Clay Harrell (AKA Shaggy), star of the hit pinball restoration series “This Old Pinball.”
·   Brian Schmidt, who has done the sounds and music for such pinball games as Apollo 13, Back to the Future, Batman Forever, The Simpsons, Frankenstein, Star Wars, The Who’s Tommy, The X Files, Black Knight 2000, Banzai Run, King Kong, Hook, Jurassic Park, Independence Day and Guns N’ Roses.
·   Todd MacCulloch, ex-pro basketball player (Philadelphia 76ers, New Jersey Nets) and local game collector who is now a nationally ranked pinball competitor. Ask MacCulloch what it was like playing against Shaq in the NBA playoffs while he kicks your butt in the pinball tournament!

There will be seminars and autograph sessions during the day on Saturday featuring many of the special guests. Saturday night, Walter Day will publicly host the inaugural Video Game Hall of Fame awards ceremony. The ceremony will honor world record players from the past and present and include championship game players from across the nation.

Competitive pinball players can compete in the International Flipper Pinball Association (IFPA) sanctioned tournament for World Pinball Player Rankings points and cash prizes. Classicarcadegaming.com will run similar competitions on the arcade games, while Twin Galaxies tracks world record attempts. There will also be smaller tournaments and bounty contests for prizes that more casual pinball and arcade game players can compete in.

The show will be held in the Northwest Rooms of the Seattle Center, located at 305 Harrison Street in downtown Seattle. The event is all-ages, admission rates are $20 per day Friday/Saturday and $15 Sunday for adults, $15 per day Friday/Saturday and $10 Sunday for kids 6-14, and children 5 and under are free. I helped load/unload trucks all day yesterday.  This show is gonna be good!

I'll be there with my wife on Friday, and probably on my own Saturday.  A lot of the KLOV folks are going to be there Saturday.

Left a little early, but like the show so far. Played some good games and even won some stickers, Pac-Man t-shirt and Saint's Project Arcade book. Of course I already have the Project Arcade book. Anyone need a copy? Pay shipping and it is yours.

I was there for 4 hours yesterday.  Got to play a lot of pinball, but only played a few games of Tempest on the arcade side.  Even thought I've restored multiple Tempest cabs, I haven't just fired one up and really 'played'.  It seems like the only time I fire them up is when I'm working on one.  I was thrilled that I was able to get to the light blue levels, and haven't been that high in years.

I also spent some time watching a guy with over 1 million points on Robotron.  I was trying to pick up some pointers, and although he was giving me some good information I think the main thing I came away with was that I'm just too slow!  He had some lightning fast reflexes.

So as I was walking to the Pinball room yesterday, I saw a notebook full of cabinet fliers sitting on one of the tables.  I leafed through a few pages to see what was in it and this guy comes up and says "Hi, I'm Steve Ritchie".  I said "Hey".  Then my wife called to me and said "Hurry up", so I turned and walked on.  Did I just snub Steve?  I thought it was funny after the fact

Nice. I'm planning on making it to something where there's a Tempest, one of these days. While I don't get a million every day on Robotron, I have passed that a few/several times, and from some of the comments on that game here, that's like just getting into the minor leagues. Light blue levels on Tempest, on the other hand, looks to be up there on the scale.
