I want to apply wood grain contact paper or laminate to MDF. Should I prime it first? Or something?

for laminate like formica, no.
i don't know about contact paper, but i wouldn't think so.

My CP is currently covered with contact paper. I don't recommend it. It really doesn't stick that well over time. I'd paint or use an overlay.
