Mouse Trap Refurb
« on: April 13, 2009, 05:08:35 pm »
Here's the next project on the plate. It's a Mouse Trap that was converted to a Sega Championship Baseball. The baseball game still plays, but it has to go to make room for a classic.

True to its name, I've found two dead mice inside it. They learned the painful lesson that you shouldn't touch the HV of a monitor chassis without draining the voltage off of it first.

Here's a few shots to show what I'm starting with on it.

That's gonna be a project....

Have you started collecting parts and such yet?
Is artwork available?

That's what I was wondering too. Great game, so I look forward to seeing this project progress. Hopefully you can find what you need!

Well, the operator that I bought the games from had the good sense to store all of the boards when he did conversions. So I have the original board, but it's not tested yet.

On the other parts, I think I've got everything together except the side art and I haven't ran across anything yet on it being reproduced.

I think the hardest part is going to be cleaning the filthy thing out. There's a small access panel behind the monitor and you can reach some of the inside from the coin door and board door on the front, but other than that there's no access to the bottom.

I'm thinking about making some short saw-horses to lay in on, front side down. With the monitor out I should be able to lean up into it to clean it out and rewire it.

I'm guessing all they had in order to access the game pcb and power supply and such was that side door in the front of the cabinet then?

I hear the Dog buttons are damn near impossible to find.

But Mouse Trap is such an underrated game. IMO, Mouse Trap is Exidy's best game. And most have been converted or outright destroyed.

Yeah for some reason Exidy classics dont seem to get much mention, aren't seen for sale, etc... I wonder why? High mechanical failure rate maybe?

Lady Bug is the other one you don't see often.
