MP3 conversion for Rowe-AMI Jukes & others
« on: July 01, 2003, 11:49:06 am »
Anyone with a real CD Jukebox might be interested in checking out this product.  I found it the other day when researching info for my next mp3 jukebox I'm going to build.  I have a Rowe-AMI CD100-E juke that I was planning to sell after completion of my personal mp3 juke.  Now after seeing this mp3 conversion kit for it, I may just keep it after all.

No modifications of the jukebox are required to install the mp3 device and hard drive.  This is what I've wanted to do to my Rowe-AMI ever since I bought it a few years ago.  But the idea of hacking or screwing with my $1000 jukebox was just something I couldn't do.

Only issue I have is how to fit more than 25 track listings on the playlist cards I use.  As it is, I have trouble fitting that many songs on to a playlist card without really tweaking font size and spacing.  This is the current juke playlist software and cards I am using :

I'm using the single listing title cards currently.  But I see they now support the double listing title cards now, so that does gain more space on the card.  But, these cards certainly cannot display more than 40 songs per card.  Since the mp3 conversion can support 99 tracks per CD, I still wouldn't be able to fully utilize the mp3 functionality.  A playlist book could work, but is not ideal.

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?  It looks like I'm still going to build a wall mounted juke with an LCD screen running Virtual Jukebox.  But I'll probably buy this upgrade anyway since it is very cool and will only add to the resale value of my Rowe-AMI when/if I decide to sell it.

Thanks,

Rick
