MAMEGATE MG-1 prototype artwork - opinions please
« on: April 10, 2009, 06:15:06 pm »
I am starting a complete revamp of the artwork for my cab after I found a wonderful Blender model of a Stargate.  Here is a small sample of what I am trying to achieve.  Let me know what you think.

What does the cab itself look like? It's hard to say until one sees how the whole thing is put together.

I don't know if I would include more than one character from any one specific game. A little unfair to give PacMan characters two spots and Q-bert gets only one.

I'm a huge huge fan of Stargate. I have to get my SG fix, no matter where it comes from. SGA, SG-1, SG:U, I don't give a flip, just feed it to me.

Pissed me off that they killed SG-1 and SGA, guess I'll have to be happy with SG:U until the whole series becomes another X-Files or Xena.

That is GREAT! I love the subtle char outlines in place of the original glyphs. Excellent.

Here's another image for your scanning/cropping/mashing pleasure..

I believe it's one of the preproduction sketches of the coverstone. The glyphs and detailing are fantastic.

DrVenture, that is a sweet find.  I forgot it even had a cover.  I am also thinking about getting a hi-res render or pic of a  DHD, and tweaking it the same way.  I could then use it on the control panel along with a translucent red trackball.  ;)

The trackball idea is great. It'd really tie it together.

You know, not to be creating EVEN MORE work for you, but I wonder what that marquee would look like if it was actually sculpted, ie a 3d relief with the glowing parts lit from behind...

BASS!

  • Just have fun.

Of course it would look awesome. DUUUUH ;D. That is one thing that I hope to rectify here for my current build. Multi layered graphics for the cp.

SavanahLion's right. You HAVE to have a pull out drawer on the side full of control crystals!

Maybe surround the mobo with them on a sliding drawer?

Definitely keep posting pics. I'd love to see where this goes...
