About categories and gamelists
« on: March 23, 2009, 05:11:45 am »
I think it should be interesting to add a fuction to my layout to filter games by category. It should display a simple menu with a list of categories. This menu is loaded with a button in my control panel. Selecting one of the categories show only the matching games in the main gamelist. Is this possible. Does it work like that? And most important, how can I do this? Is it in the MaLa layout? How to link it to the gamelists? How to assing a button to the function?

Secondly: does adding categories mean that I have to manually create sepparate game lists for every category, or is there any way to atomate this process? It would be interesing, because when I add games to my cabinet, not only have I to create again horizontal and vertical game lists, but different lists for every genre, and repeat the process for vertical and horizontal. Am I wrong or it works like this? It's really strange that this frontend doesn't have the ability to autogenerate lists like in MAME32 or EmuLoader, in which you hit F5 and the game list of available games, and the sorting by categories and orientation is automatically updated. Any reason for this? just curiosity...
