Before I plunk down the cash for a new monitor, I'd like to try to get the current one I have working properly. It still displays a nice picture but just won't stop flickering. Here's a breakdown of the issues I'm experiencing:
After about 10 minutes of play, the picture starts flickering/blinking. It ranges from mild to moderate. At times the picture will darken for second or so before returning to normal brightness. At other times the picture will quickly expand and contract, as if it's trying to fit itself into frame. It feels like power issue to me, like the monitor is dealing with a surge of some type, but I can't be sure.
Here's what I've tried to do to remedy the situation:
I've tried fiddling with the horizontal/vert knobs, contrast/brightness knobs, all to no avail. Made sure there were no electrical devices on (fan, air conditioner, etc). Removed the marquee lights, turned down the volume all the way. Still didn't help.
I've haven't tried anything else (cap-kit, etc) because I'm out of my element. Although replacing the iso transformer, which looks quite old, seems straightforward enough. Would that help? Could a fuse need replacing? Or the main power supply?
Not sure what to do with this thing.
