Most Seamless Jukebox Software... Opinions Please!
« on: October 20, 2009, 09:02:27 am »
Well, I'm hopefully going to have the touchscreen panel for my LCD screen in the next few weeks and I thought I may as well get myself set-up ready for it's arrival! ;)

I'm looking to make a very seamless set-up - whereby the 'normal' bystander wouldn't assume the basis of the jukebox is a PC. I want something neat, tidy, professional-looking but something that doesn't allow the user to get confused, exit the program, crash it, etc...

I like the look of AlbumPlayer Jukebox but noticed it has minimize, exit, etc on all the skins. This is what I want to avoid!

My intention is to use InstantSheller to hide Windows and to boot straight into the jukebox software - obviously if you can exit/minimise/whatever that is going to spoil the illusion...

Anyway - can anyone suggest the best jukebox software for what I want. I'm looking to spend as little as possible but if the software is good/worth it then I'm happy enough to invest...

Advice please!

Thanks people! :)

My Xlobby skin is set up to do that. You have to go to a password screen in order to exit out of the program. Currently I have the password set simply as "0", if you decide to go with it, I can show you how to change the password even. It does go to a start up page that takes you to a photo screen and a weather screen, but I can easily set it to go straight to jukebox, and leave out the other stuff. This is all free as well.

Thanks Orion... looks like a great bit of design there... if I eventually go with Album Player I'll definitely be looking into your skin. For now, SK Jukebox is what I'm giving a trial run - seemed to get some very good feedback and no harm in giving a whirl as it is free! Anyway, thanks for the help chap!

Give E-Touch (formerly Freebox) a look.  There is a free demo.  The full version is worth the price in support alone.  It can run fullscreen and the config/exit screens can be hidden, or PIN protected.

I'll give a second nod to E-Touch!

The support is second to none!

Ready for a new release any day now!

Plus new skins seem to be on the horizon or you can make your own!

I too run instantsheller and E-Touch! Totally hides the windows enviroment and no one is the wiser!

If you like the looks of alnumplayer - go with it!  I cant say enough good things about it.  It may interest you to know that album player has a "party mode".  It is designed so that guests cannot exit the program, alter the playlist, change tracks, etc.  I believe this "mode" also disables the minimize and exit buttons on the interface.  There are options that allow you to customize the extent that party mode disables as well.  Hope that helps...

I will give E touch a third vote.    Used to use SKjuke and VMJ.    E touch has very active development and support.

Make sure you get the latest of the old SK releases.  There is also a patch for a letter problem with the on screen keyboard if I remember correctly.  Should all be in the SK Jukebox forum.
