No sound in mala
« on: February 18, 2009, 12:17:34 am »
I don't know what happened or what setting would even cause this (in mala or in windows) but mala no longer plays any sounds.

The last time I played mala videosnaps worked with sound and games had sound as well. However today I went to play and I get nothing! Outside of mala (only when mala isn't running) sounds in windows works fine, including snaps and the same games when played directly through mame.

Is there some file that could have been corrupted in the mala directory?

Mala has a volume independent of windows. Check controller then advanced in MaLa options. Maybe yours is turned down or muted.

What exactly am I looking for under this tab?

My volume keys are not defined.

Is there one that says "sound up" and "sound down"? I'm away from the program right now. There may be a mute setting there, too. If they are undefined, you could try defining the sound up and see if it makes the sound go up. But, if they are undefined my solution now sounds unlikely.

I tried remapping the keys and adjusting the volume up but it still doesn't work:(

Nothing shows up in the mala log either.

I went into mala and disabled audio, as soon as I clicked ok the sounds came back on HOWEVER mala immediately crashed! I went back into mala and the sound settings were disabled, I re-enabled them and still no sound, I then disabled them again and the same thing happens, the sounds come back and mala immediately crashes:|

This is what the log file shows (repeated about 50 times):

2009/02/18  17:27:10.45   Error: Object Class: TTimer, Object Function: SaveTrackingInformation, Exception Class: EAccessViolation, Exception Message: Access violation at address 00403D58 in module 'MaLa.exe'. Read of address FFFFFFFA

update

I decided to remove the mala.pls from the folder on a whim. I load up mala and I have sounds! Yeah! HOWEVER, I go into the options to see if sounds are enabled, hmm...they aren't! So I enabled them and my sounds are gone again. I try to go back into the menu and as soon as I right click mala crashes.

Here is the latest error:
2009/02/18  17:34:18.28   Error: Object Class: TPopupList, Object Function: HidCtlEnumerate, Exception Class: EAccessViolation, Exception Message: Access violation at address 0059220F in module 'MaLa.exe'. Write of address 000028BD

I restart mala and I'm back to where I was in the beginning of this post:(

under gui take the tick out of use sounds from layout or try another layout, it might be a conflict between your sounds and the sounds in the layout, if any

I just started over:(

I'm not sure exactly what it was but I just started fresh (after trying a back restore that also had the same problem).
