A little help please

Hi all.I am going to be quick

I would like to make a logo. I have a vector image at my adobe illustraitor.
The MA frontend cant recognize AI files so the logo i want to use sould be in other format(like png etc)
My problem is that when i transform the AI file to png..the png_logo i have created isnt ony the seected image but also the background of it(white).So i cant use it for logo infront of the background.
How can i save only the image.

for example i need the NBA logo without the white background

How can i cut the nba_logo?

i'm a little confused what your trying to do ? just use the magic wand in adobe photoshop and delete the white and save it as a png ?
