Help with videos and CP in layout
« on: August 01, 2008, 10:33:39 am »
Can anybody help me? I am a MaLa Newbie at my wit's end. I downloaded and installed Katana Man's Zebra Layout. I got the snaps and marquees to display on the arcade layout, but I cannot get the videos or control panels to display. It just shows the default control panel and a black window for the video.

I have set the paths in the MaLa options window under Mame Config, Pictures and Video tab. Like I said, I got the snaps and marquee to display and they are on the same option screen. Am I over looking something obvious here?

I'm frustrated to the point that I am considering scrapping MaLa and buying Maximus, but I want to build my CP with illuminated buttons and as far as I have read, maximus doesn't support an LED driver.

Any help would be immensely appreciated!
You probably remember me from such films as `The Revenge of Abe Lincoln' and `The Wackiest Covered Wagon in the West'

Do the videos play in Windows Media Player on your Cab.

If not download XVID codec.

OK, I downloaded the codec and not only got the game videos to work, but now the intro video works too. Thanks for the help!
I stepped back and let it set for a few days and then attacked MaLa again and was able to work out a number of issues. Sometimes you just need to get away from it for awhile.

Possibly switching to Mala from Mamewah & was having the same issue with videos not playing in Mala (main menu or screensaver).

Oddly enough, the ROM videos would play just fine in MameWah and in Win Media Player.  I decided to try installing the XVID codec anyhow & that fixed it.   All is good again.
