I haven't tried it but I have X-arcade controls and like them. I saw that they lowered the price and thought about doing the same thing. Unless you're a huge fan of trackball games and want to drop the extra money down on something from Happs, I'd say it's worth it. I liked their customer support and no questions asked policy of sending out replacement parts, too. Hopefully someone who actually played one will chime in. Many of the reviews seem favorable. Here's one where the guy actually knows what a Mame cab is: http://classicgaming.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Articles.Detail&id=206

i havent used their trackball units, but if you are thinking about buying one...now is the time.  they are on sale right now for $49.95, which seems like a pretty great deal

I bought one for my next project. The trackball mounts in a 2 7/8" hole, not a 3" like most others.

just curious, do you use a hole saw for that, or a jig saw and cover it up with the plastic piece?

I bought a holesaw from ebay. It came without an arbor so I bought a holesaw kit from Harbor Freight for $3.99.

Ebay was the only place I could find a 2 7/8" that was cheap.

  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.

I've considered ordering that trackball several times. I just haven't gotten around to it. I've heard it's a good trackball.

BASS!

  • Just have fun.

I used one on my first machine and I have to say one thing, value for money can't be beat. It is essentially a usb trackball with enclosure and several buttons (enough to game with, and almost too many if you ask me) The only other thing about it that goes the same for their buttons and such. I would have to describe the action as clunky and a little cheap/loud. I then ended up getting a happ tb and it was like night and day. If you have 2 good conditioned units the happ seems to spin about 4 times longer then the xarcade.

What does the Happs set you back give or take once you factor in the board and any other wires, etc for hookup?
