What games require 2 joysticks?
« on: June 20, 2003, 12:32:20 am »
I'm sure there are games out there that require 2 joysticks. Probably tank games or something... I just don't know which ones they are?

I'm thinking of makign the top-fire joystick I have switchable between 1st and 2nd player to accomodate these type of games. Would it be worthwhile?

I think it could also come in handy for FPS's.

I forgot about that... That's a damn good game, too. Almost makes it worth it to have 2 joys right there.

I'm gonna have alot of controls on my panel, though. I can tell some people are gettign confused just looking at my plans. (They're not MAMErs.) My girlfriend jsut told me it's got too much stuff on it. I was like "You don't understand. You NEED this much stuff!"

Yah I know what you mean. I'd love to have one of those rotating control panels, but I can barely build one, not to mention one of those crazy contractions :D

I simply don't have the room for a rotating panel. Plus I like having everything right there. Plus since this thing is in a VERY high traffic area (a frat house) I can see some drunk guy leaning on a rotating panel and falling right through it.

Robotron 2084
Smash TV
Black Widow
Crazy Climber
Crazy Climber 2
Karate Champ
Mars
Assault (w/triggers)
Vindicators (w/triggers)
Lost Tomb
Tutankham
Krull

There are more, but those are the main ones I can think of off hand. I play Vanguard dualjoy also (I think it is Vangaurd, originally had 4 directional fire buttons and an 8-way).
Acceptance of Zen philosophy is marred slightly by the nagging thought that if all things are interconnected, then all things must be in some way involved with Pauly Shore.

That settles it. I'm making a trip to radio shack and I'm gonna buy a switch to switch the top fire between P1 and P2. Either that or I'll find some way to incorporate an old paraller port manual switch with a rotary knob on the front that I have lying around here... Oh there it is... Now where's my screw driver... DOH!

If the left joy needs to be a 4-way they can stil grab the top 4-way and if it needs to be 8-way they can grab the lower 8-way. (Refer to recent my post in this same forum about my CP layout.)

How does that sound???

WOOOHOO!!! This parallel switch is PERFECT! I'll post a picture as soon as I can. If I wanna do it the easy way I can go to Radio shack, pick up some parts and use the whole thing, but more than likely I'm gonna pull wires on the inside and hack it by just using the guts. That'll keep it smaller and cleaner (since it's got like 75 wires in there and i only need 12).

Has anybody ever done this before for a joystick or do I get to be the first?  :)

hey alans17 - about your previous two posts up, pardon my ignorance, what exactly are you trying to do with those tasks you have indicated in those two posts?  What are you trying to accomplish exactly?

coincidently, about the KARATE CHAMP game which requires two joysticks, if i did have a panel that has two joystick (hooked up to an I-PAC of course...), does the game automatically detects the button press arrangement of the two joysticks or you have to still set them up manually on the config screen?

i know i found karate champ, with just using one joypad and the buttons, the button assignments are not modifiable under the CONFIG screen, and the button assignments are OFF when using joypad buttons instead a 2nd joystick directional buttons...

Can someone enlighten me on this? :-\
Best Regards,
