Project Name : I-Macc's Now Canned C-Macc's 2 Is new project
Maker - Mayhem

Oh well time to start a new project log for a new system im working on. This one will be a lot slower than my Project C-Macc's as the build is still under development (if you can call it that). The frame for this System I-Mac's is being made from a fresh. There is no pre bought frame being used and it is being fabricated locally by DGF fabrications. I'm all so having custom side panels made out of wood and once the frame is back and to spec these will be made and added as well.

So what is I-Mac's

I-Mac's mean's Integrated Multi Arcade Computer Console System. The idea is to do a complete new Build of a arcade system making it possible to house any console or PC. But only 1 system can be used at a time. All So I-Mac's is being built so it can be flat packed and retailed off. The proto type that we've been working on will be a full system based around a Power full PC. More will become apparent as we move along.

I-Mac's will be a completely different look to C-Macc's and will fit in any modern home or office or venue and will have the ability to hold any screen from a 19" up to a 52" plasma or LCD. The control panel will be 4 player compatible but with a 2 player option as well. Again the control panel will be customised and again different from any thing on the market right at this moment in time.

Every thing i have learnt from C-Macc's is being ported across to I-Mac's with some subtle difference in the way it works.

Ill post up photo's of the build process as i go along but this may not be for a few weeks until im happy with the frame work and the CP (control Panel).

Ill post details of each section as i work on it but for now this is just my teaser post to start you off.

All so im after sponsorship for this Proto Type to help towards the build costs and if any one knows how i go about this let me know in this thread.

Here are some early concept drawings to start off with....

Images now showing.

The frame is being made out of 1" square steel and has 2mm tickness. So its going to be quite heavy but will take the weight of a 50" plasma screen easly (we hope lol)

Managed to figure out a little how to work google sketch, need the cp to slope but haven't figured out how to taper in this program just yet. But again this will give a better idea of my plans.

*** Pics removed ran out of bandwidth)

The box at the bottom will have a see through Plexi glass and the components will all be seated in there. the Small raised section on the cp is a 7" touch screen system for Jukebox mode and also other things as well.

I think that second design makes a lot more sense... Your first one used the tricks you can use to make a cab small (skeletal frame and LCD), but was still larger than even a huge cab like a dedicated Golden Tee Fore.

I think if you put some kind of door or cover on the front, it'd look better. Right now it looks very much like my LCD TV stand, mainly because of the open front.

Much prefer the new design. The original sketchup design was nice but I didn't really like the fabrication. It looked like it belonged on a building site rather than in your living room. If you make a prototype for your new design make sure all the bolts, fixings etc are as hidden as possible. I cant imagine the final product being cheap and people wont want to pay a load of cash for what looks like a Meccano set.

I agree with TOK about covering the front up. If people are using it as a MAME rig or with a 360 etc they may not want there friends to see the guts of the system as it kinda takes away the arcade feel of the cabinet.

Apart from that, it looks nice, the slimmer design is much more appealing, especially where space is a premium. Keep us updated

Well First off i would like to say thank you to Tom Speirs creator of the Game Ex front end for emulators he is kindly sponsored my build of C-Macc's 2.

Game Ex software is what i used to help run the emulators of C-Macc's system i have built which is in this months CPC mag and all so in my build logs for C-Macc's. I will be Using the same Software in C-Macc's 2 to run all the emulators again. This time ill gointo more details about the setting up the software and what it can do when the time is right.

http://www.gameex.net

Quote
GameEx is a graphical DirectX based front-end for MAME , Zinc, Daphne, PC Games, and all command line based emulators, along with being a complete Home Theatre PC solution, especially  when gaming is a priority or important. It also makes a good CarPC frontend. The original goal was for it to be used on Windows XP Media Center and also Arcade Cabinets . It will run on any version of Windows 98SE, ME, 2000,  XP and Vista. You don't need Windows Media Center to run GameEx.

to finish with a couple extra updated pics

Very nice concept.  It has a sosphisticated look which is good but remember traditional arcade cabinets have that "play me im fun look about them"  Also keep in mind that viewing and LCD as an up close game machine requires a 27 inch to comfortably see everything on the screen at once.  Anything bigger than that gives you eye strain.   Make sure the control panel is definately secure as this is the point where most weight from  players will be distributed. Its a beautiful creation one of the best I have seen.  I cant wait to buy one from my local arcade shop!

As for holding the cp  ->

This was using 1" with 2mm thick steel the new system 2" x 1" with 2mm thick The system would hold alot more than just me and still not boucne. Thank you for you comments and every thing is duly noted.

this is the last Vid of the concept,
