Entire path displays in PC games layout *solved*
« on: October 10, 2008, 12:46:48 pm »
Quick question..I hope :)

I've got a PC Games list set up now and on my layout instead of getting the name of the program it's displaying the entire path.
For example instead of displaying 'Hamsterball' I'm getting "C:\PC Games\Hamsterball\hamsterball.exe"

Am I using the wrong thing in that text box? I'm using ~g_name like on all my other layouts.

Are you using Howard's PC Games Utility and Launcher?

I've had great success using this with MaLa and gamelists...

No I was just using the 'folder of shortcuts' method like I did with Mamewah..but Mamewah just displayed the name.
It works great except for this issue.

I guess I could try it though. Thanks for the link. :)

It was pretty easy to set up once i figured out what I needed for each game... I've got a single PC ROMS folder in which I place the .pcg files; I've named them what I want to show in my gamelist. In MaLa, my "Other Emulator" tab for PC games only looks for .pcg files and produces a nice clean list.

My .pcg files point to Closemul .bat files so I can escape the games. In a couple of cases, the Closemul .bat points to 3DAnalyze for pixel-shading emulation. Closemul opens 3Danalyze, then passes a command to run the game, finally closing 3Danalyze after the game begins.

Works like a charm.

That is weird.

I just did it quickly (with notpepad as the game) and it just showed the name .

See attached pics for my setup

~g_name is the 'rom' name. Use ~g_description instead. Thats the titel of the game.
