Two Tracksball - how to add and for which games?
« on: March 12, 2002, 08:00:26 am »
Hi!

Well, I played MarbleMadness yesterday and thought of adding two trackballs to my still planed Mame cabinet.

Are there any more games with "two player at the same time with trackball" support? Or is it more or less useless, 'cause only for this game available?

Any idea how to hack two custom (Have this Crystal trackball) trackballs together?

Many thanx in advance!

Carsten

Well, there's Marble Madness 2 ;)  Dunno of other two-trackball games... try KLOV.com.

There are a number of solutions for having two trackballs. I actually have a total of three pointing devices... spinner, trackball, and "pencil-eraser" thingy on my keyboard. I use an Y-Mouse USB in conjunction with a D-Link H4SMK. This gives me quite a few USB and PS/2 ports available.

There's quite abit that have more than one player, not sure how many have more than one trackball.

A simple way to get more than one trackball is to use Windows 98/ME and Analog+:Mame.
http://urebelscum.speedhost.comcorrection, more than one trackball using usb.
Atari football used 4....

Other 2 trackball games:

Rampart (3 trackballs)
Cabal (not the bootleg, though)

Quick list of game drivers that mame emulates with 2 or more trackballs (in no order):
  • marble
  • cabal
  • rampart (3)
  • teedoff
  • gridiron
  • tehkanwc
  • syvalion
  • rambo3a
  • sdi
  • mjleague
  • krzybowl
  • poundfor
  • lemmings
  • gtg2
  • gtg2t
  • stratab
  • shufshot
  • combasct
  • bsktball
  • bladestl
  • bladstle
  • gghost
  • spiker
  • ataxx
  • abaseb
  • soccer (4)
  • atarifb
  • atarifb4 (4)
  • ebases
  • arcadecl
*note: the names were cut and pasted from the driver .c files, so the names might not match the ROM names, and could include non-working games.

Also, there are many more games with 2 dials (spinners) that the trackballs can simulate, if you want.

:)Thanx for the list and all replies!
I'll test these games and then deceide if it's worth the effort to add two trackballs. :)
