Smart Power Strip Whine?!
« on: September 11, 2008, 03:44:15 pm »
Has anyone else experienced a "whine" at all from their smart power power strip?  When I turn off my cab the strip starts to whine...sounds like a very very very high pitched almost inaudible "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee..."

What's in a smartstrip?  It's just one outlet connected to a relay that turns on the rest of them, isn't it?  No recitification or anything?

Plus a bunch of parts to filter out the noise and provide surge suppression.  I'd assume some of those parts either got damaged or starting to fail.

I'd start thinking about caps and inductors, then.

I would imagine it has to have a circuit in there to sense current draw as well.
