Decasing CRT monitor question
« on: September 11, 2008, 09:31:00 pm »
I am building the Ultimate Bartop cab from mameroom.com, but my monitor won't fit while it's inside the casing.  First off, I'm a little freaked out by all of this decasing business.  However, all I want to do is remove the case, see if it fits, and then possibly mount it.  Since I do not plan on messing with any of the components on the inside, is it still necessary (or highly recommended) to get it discharged?  It is a 15" Envision CRT that has been unplugged and sitting around for about a year.
I am at the point where I may just break down and purchase a 15" LCD (even though a CRT is more authentic) that I know will definately fit and won't be cramped.  Another concern I have is if all of the PC and electrical components will even fit if a CRT is taking up all that space.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  :)

if u plan on handling the crt . then discharge it . as getting bit does not feel good .
nor does dropping the crt due to the shock.

when handling the crt , carry it with the screen against ur belly . that puts the center of gravity where it is easiest to carry.
and WATCH THE NECK !!!!   Pfssssssssssssssssss......  is NOT a good sound   $$$   ;)

But do you think it will even fit in the Ultimate bartop, or will it be more sensible to get a more compact LCD.   :dunno

sry, unfamiliar with "the ultimate bartop"
so have no clue as to the available dimensions   :dunno

a crt will require more depth than an lcd.......
