Last week, I finally got my first cabinet finished.  I had an old 27" samsung CRT that I'd planned on using in it, and before construction started, I'd made sure everything worked as expected.  Then I ended up taking a few months to finally finish everything, and when I finally put the TV in place, it fit perfectly, but had these nasty diagonal lines on the svideo input that I couldn't get rid of.
After much adjusting and cursing, I decided to try a different TV, and since I happened to have access to another 27" CRT, I gave it a try, and found that it was a MUCH better picture.  The only catch is, the first TV was 26" wide, so I made the inside of the cab 27".  The new TV at its widest is 27.5".
So, does anyone have any suggestions on how to make a TV slimmer?  It looks like I can't cut much off the case and still keep it closed, and I don't really want to de-case a TV.  At this point I'm thinking of routing a 1/4" groove into each side of the cab (3/4" MDF) where the front of the TV needs to sit.  I might also take a plane to the widest part of the plastic and see if I can gain a little more space that way.  The only other alternative I can think of is rebuilding all the interior panels to be an inch wider, and I really don't want to do that at this point

Any other suggestions from others who have tackled this problem?
