Sanyo 20-EZ popping a cap!
« on: September 09, 2008, 11:31:46 pm »
Ok... I got this sanyo, had no idea of its status... Cleaned it up, re-capped it... Fired it up... Pow! C467 popped.  I double checked polarity of all the caps prior to power up.  Thought "ok must have missed it" so I replaced it and tried again...pop!

I dislike working on monitors... They scare me... Yeah wimp I know...

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks

What value and voltage rating capacitor are you using?

1uF 160V...the correct value.  I think its the flyback transformer...

And you are positive on the correct polarity ?

Negative lead goes towards the test point.

I haven't looked at mine in ages, but chassis have been known to be mislabeled.
Not a technician . . . . just a DIY'er.

Yep... I'm sure of the polarity...done plenty othis type of stuff  ;).   Also could not find any info that would indicate a chassis mis-label issue (unlike G07s)

Thanks

that cap is on the abl ( automatic brightness limiter ) line.
so, make sure r470,489 and d301 are ok .
