Mala / LED Blinky / tb_screensaver help
« on: June 01, 2008, 10:12:01 pm »
I  need some help with a config I am trying to do, not sure if its possible. What I am trying to acomplish is:

Use tb_screensaver in "randomly run mame games only" mode
I am using Mala with video previews
I am using LED Blinky and would like there to be an attract mode while tb_screensaver is running
To have the games that tb_screensaver is playing have sound and have there be no other sound

problem is

1. when tb_screensaver kicks in I can get the sound working, but the Mala preview video sounds are also playing, how to I mute the mala sound?
2. How do I Get LED Blinky to tie in with a windows screensaver, i see that it can tie in with the FE but I cant get the attract mode working with tb_screensaver

Thanks!
Jonathan

jhabers,
I looked over the tb_screensaver documentation and I don't see any way for it to launch an external application - without that feature there's no way to signal to LEDBlinky when the screensaver starts and stops. Unless there's something we can do from the MaLa side - we need MaLa's screensaver mode to launch LEDBlinky but not the actual screensaver. Not sure if this is currently possible - buy maybe an enhancement Loadman could add.

Thanks for the reply arzoo,

It would appear that I would be able to do this with mala under the screensaver section and check off ~"send only to plugins" box and just set the screensaver time here to coincide with the windows screensaver but when I do this mala goes to a black screen and the windows screensaver does not show. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Jonathan

Maybe you need to set tb_screensaver with a slightly shorter delay than the MaLa screensaver - so that tb kicks off first. But then MaLa may not start its ss mode. Just a thought.
