4-Player Simpsons, Killer Instinct 2, Megatouch
« on: May 31, 2008, 01:11:56 pm »
Ok. Just traded my Star Wars Trilogy Machine for a 4-Player Simpsons, a Megatouch, and a Killer Instinct 2. The KI2 in in pretty sad shape, but the Simpsons is a lot better. The sideart used to have plexi over it and it looks MINT! Neither game has a working monitor (they both just need a chassis) and currently play blind. The Megatouch is in perfect working order and just needs a good cleaning. Lots of TLC will be needed to restore these beauties so stay tuned. Lots of pics on the way!

Nice lot. Id love to have that Simpsons, though its too bad the sides have all those screw holes in em. Im absolutely horrid with fighting games, but the KI2 art is good enough just to have the cab for show.

Whats that weird cream colored thing you focused on in the picture 15 down from the top of the page?

Well, the Simpsons is all done. Only thing it needs is a new marquee. The one that's in there now is cracked. I robbed the chassis from my MK4 to put in the Simpsons. I have a brand new chassis on the way from 8-liners, and that's going in the MK4. I took the control panel completely apart, cleaned it all up, reconditioned the buttons and joysticks, and put it all back together. It's now in the gameroom with the MK's. It has a serious degauss issue that I need to contend with, but for now, it's at least playable. Anyway, the KI2 in next up so, see ya then!

Looks good! Glad to see I'm not the only person who uses speakers for degaussing...

Oh forgot to ask. Did you ever figure out what that cream colored box was in one of the games?

It's some type of alarm that was supposed to go off when someone opened the back of the cabinet. Some kind of ancient tamper-proof device.

Thanks. I got the proper joysticks (blue ones) for the KI2 and some new ones for the Simpsons. The original ones were ok, but they made the game difficult to play, so I got new 8-way sticks and changed out the leaf switches in the buttons to microswitches as well. Another thing that needed to be done was to remove the vendor's advertisement stickers on both machines' marquee glass and the KI2 bezel. Got that accomplished. I also moved the machines around and made them "back-to-back." Here are some updated pics and a video of them all in "Attract Mode" if anyone cares to view...

The video...

Hi,

First of all, congratulations for your nice job !

I have two questions for you :)

What is this sticker we can see on every MK coin doors in your pictures?
Is your MK3 cabinet a custom one? Because it seems to be bigger than the others ! Anyway it looks great !

That sticker is probably the "insert 1 coin to start 1 coin to continue" from the MK kits. His MK3 cab is a custom cab, he has a build thread in the projects board somewhere.
