Gas pedals, any interest.

No one seems to make a mame gas pedal. and the ones happ sells are pricy and ugly and seem more suited to sit down cabinets.

Would there be any interest in these?

And if so. Would you want an analog one that came with a gameport interface, or would you want a digital "on/off" one that hooked up to your Ipac?

And would you want just the pedal assembly, or a complete pedal bay ready to drop into your cabinet (you would have to make a cutout obviously)?

Just gas pedal, or gas and brake pedal?

Finally, what would you be willing to pay for one?

Q1 - Yes, would definitely be interested, if the price were correct.

Q2 - Building desktop controllers.  Not sure how to design it, but would prefer a USB interface, so I can use dual pedals for games that need them, not for others.  Would prefer to have a switch or lever on the panel so it registered as X-axis + for games that needed that, or a button for games that did not.  If that can't be done, would prefer an analog setting, b/c MAME will interpret this as ON/OFF for games that used switches instead of pots, and it would work better for Pot-based games.

Q3 - Would prefer a complete set-up that sits on the ground.  Like what PC wheels come with, but with plenty of weight so they don't slide.

Q4 - gas and brake pedals (and USB so I can hook two of them up for gas, brake, and clutch)

(Alternately, gas only would allow split pedals for either single player gas and brake games, or dual player gas only games . . . if the price were low enough, and you could figure a way to keep the single pedals from sliding around and still keep the base compact enough to allow them to be used side by side for gas/brake.)

Q5 - Me personally, $15 would be ideal, but unrealistic.  $25 would be fair, and I would consider that.  $50 is about the max I would ever go.  I tend to be on the frugal side, so you could very likely ask more than these numbers and still sell pretty well.

It sounds way cool! I have the ones from the Badlands conversion kit. If you need any technical info it explains them in depth in the manual. I also have taken them apart and they are analog... you can't really tell in play though. They use these funky cone shaped pots... I would rather they be digital because they would be cheaper and easier to interface. After that I can't say I have seen too many for uprights... these are a pretty nice product, but you can't buy them anymore... it would be nice if someone made one! As always I am only willing to pay peanuts.

Where I dissagree is I think that they should just be cab mountable. Or maybe they can be easily removed from thier ground setup to go on a cab... or maybe they could be ordered seperatly...

Okay, I was replying from my perspective.  I am not building a cab.  Prolly never will.  I do plan to build a lot of desktop controls.

I think this board is pretty evenly split (or maybe 70 cab/30 desktop) between cab people and desktop control people.  However, if you wanted to sell these outside of this forum (for people who want good controls for Need4Speed or NASCAR Racing, etc.), most of those will not have cabs at all.

And I think it would be easier to modify a floor controller to hard mount to a cab, than to modify a controller designed for hard mounting to a cab to work free-standing, FWIW.
