Game Room Forum?
« on: March 19, 2008, 11:51:17 am »
Hello all.

Anyone interested in having a Game Room forum on this site?  This would be a place specifically for the discussion of game rooms. I am talking about game rooms that people build at home, in the basement, or wherever. It would be a place to share design ideas, issues, stories about building/desiging your room, photos, or anything related to creating a game room in your house.

Just curious.
Games in my collection: Pole Position II (it actually works! Well... most of the time), Space Invaders, Donkey Kong, 280 Zzzap, Pacman, custom 3/4 size Ms. Pacman, Yankee Shuffle Alley (1954), Blue Ribbon pinball.

I thought it might be a good idea. People are often posting pictures of the games rooms in their homes, and sometimes asking questions about where to buy things for these rooms, how to set things up, etc.  So I thought a dedicated section might be a good resource.

I don't think a dedicated forum is what you are wanting. Design ideas are discussed in arcade Misc.

What I think you may be after is something like the project database - a gameroom database.

Not really..... The forum is already diverse enough as it is. There's no real need for discussion on somebody's game room unless it's to say "That's Nice"..... So not a lot of point in dedicating a whole forum to it.

If you want to ask a question about where to buy something then the general forum does perfectly well for that.

So I thought a dedicated section might be a good resource.
Or add it into the WIKI as game room resources and design. That's what the WIKI is there for. A forum is not really there to be a resource it's for more instant help when the WIKI doesn't have the answers.

Most bottles and jars contain at least twenty-five percent recycled Pacman.
And research indicates that Space Invaders are strongly attracted to people who have recently eaten meat pies.

Yeah - I think the Wiki might be best. It would be nice to have one place to go and see different designs. However, if you really want to do it right, you need to see Peter Hirschberg's place:

Yeah... Peter's arcade is insane. I can't even imagine having something like that at my house.   Lucky guy....

you may want to head over to retroblast and post your gameroom pics in their forum.
