Similar to retrace lines, but scanning upward. Problem?
« on: March 17, 2008, 01:18:00 am »
Hi All,

One of my larger multi-sync presentation monitors has an issue where I can see a shimmering, and on bright screens I realize the pattern looks a lot like the retrace lines when the G2 is turned up, but they're darker instead of lighter and they scan upwards.  Does this immediately sound like a typical issue of some kind?

sounds like a ground problem or mains interference, has it always done this or is it a new problem?

Good question.  I recently obtained this one, so probably a long standing problem.    It's a Mitsubishi AM4201 so probably at least 10 years on the thing so my first guess was drying caps, but I don't really know that much about monitor or board level troubleshooting.

i reckon its an earth issue to the monitor frame, check continuity from the frame to the earth terminal in the cab.also check your earth is connected at the wall socket side of things
