Custom Space Duel Based Marquee--*Completed*
« on: January 17, 2008, 12:59:12 pm »
Hey all, I have been working on this marquee and wanted to put this out and get some feedback on it. I am converting an empty Space Duel cab into a Mame cab. I am keeping all of the original side art, and wanted to make a custom cpo and marquee based on the original art.

Here is what I have completed so far...

Although there are still some detail that I need to recreate and polish up, right now I am just working on the size and position of "Space Arcade" and the "mametari" logo.

Let me know what you guys think!

Thanks!

Looks good, but it's kind of hard to see if there are any errors with a shrunken version.

You asked about the placement of the name and the Atari logo...how would it look with the Star Arcade text starting where the Atari logo is now, and the Atari logo moved to the right of the text?

Alright guys, here are some larger pictures and some variations. I included the original as well to compare side by side.

Thanks for the feedback so far!

I LOVE it! The colors are really striking. My next cab will be a colorful vertical job.

The fourth one is the best, IMO - but please get rid of that hybrid Atari/MAME logo.  That's blasphemy.

I sort of like the ATARI/MAME logo...BUT with transparency instead of seeing that crappy black box.

I was leaning towards number 4 as well, and ya, the black box is an eyesore and is only temporary... There is a a nice explosion behind that logo and I will need move it somewhere so its not hidden.

The mame-tari logo may be blasphemous but thats why I like it :)

Thanks for the input so far.. I will clean up number 4 and post my updated results

Yay, a suggestion I made on these boards was taken.  ;D

Good to hear you're planning on removing that box. I like your inclusion of "MAME" in such a relatively subtle way.

Alright folks, I took the suggestions, and here are the results:

Lets see... changes are that I put the black outline around the letters like the original, and carried that on to the mametari logo as well to separate it from the background. Moved the little satellite from underneath the mametari logo to the left below "Space". Cleaned up around new text and recreated background image where old title wording was covering it.

What do you guys think?

Also, I was planning on going with mamemarquees for printing... does their print method handle large amounts of black well?

Thanks!
