Konami GT Wiring question
« on: February 01, 2008, 12:29:20 am »
I just received a Konami GT control panel that has the optical encoder still attached. I am planning on using it in a MAME cab but I can't tell what the connections are for the Encoder Board  (they don't appear to be labeled).

Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks

I don't have the circuit diagram to hand right now.... but can't you just trace the tracks on circuit board to see what they are and where they go to???

I can't trace them from that photo, try removing that paper sticker so you can see where the tracks are. The only one I can see.... It looks like the ground is the one at the top of the connector.

I found that too - but I couldn't tell if that was the connection off the main PCB or onto the encoder.  I don't mind experimenting but I don't want to blow it out before I even get started.

Thanks.

I seem to remember that the steering wheel was connected to that extra (side) PCB, but not sure....

Interesting that the encoder has 6 pins.  It's hard to tell from the pic (backlighting can sometimes help tracing), but it looks like only 4 of the pins are used?  If numbered starting at top, 1, 3, 4, 5 look wired, while 2 and 6 look not connected.  With that, I would guess 1 and 5 are ground and power (or vice versa).

Got it working.  Two of the pins aren't connected.  The text from the above link is correct, so now I have a working 360 wheel.  Now I just need some potentiometer pedals.

Thanks for everyone's help.
