I recently asked what people thought about using and mounting my old sidewinder 3d pro in my cab, but while a quick trial indicated that it still works, a more thorough testing indicates it has some erratic behavior. So forget that idea.

Now I'm thinking of getting a new pc analog joystick for one of my swappable panels but I have no knowledge of joysticks so I'm seeking advice. I will have other panels with 4 and 8 way arcade joysticks, so this one would only be used for the handful of games that need some form of analog joystick/yoke/similar. That's why I'd rather not go the more expensive route of an analog arcade joystick. Yeah, I know pc joysticks can get expensive too, but I'm not looking for a high end one.

I would hope for a joystick that has a price point of around $50 (lower is fine too as long as it's good quality!). I loved my sidewinder back in the day, so my tendency is to go for another (new) sidewinder.

So what do you all think? My main desire is to have a durable joystick with at least one trigger button. Other features would be ok too (e.g. a throttle, which I would try to extract and mount on my panel separately from the stick itself). I've also seen some pretty wild looking joysticks out there, which don't interest me at all. I prefer a simple look, like my old sidewinder.

I may not be thinking of everything I'd need in a joystick, so offer advice in that regard too.

A quick list of games that I'm thinking of (and I'm sure there are others) are paper boy, star wars, tron (yeah, I know this game wants a 4 way but I'm hoping an analog stick would emulate it ok since the game really needs a trigger).
