Dreamcast Emulator - nulldc and chankast help!
« on: October 01, 2007, 01:17:10 pm »
I've been onthese emulators for days figuring out how to get them to work, and I am real close.

I can get both emulators to work, I mount the image with daemon tools perfectly.

Only thing is, both emulators ask me to insert disc. I have the emulators assigned to the correct virtual image but can't get past this point.

Maybe my images need to be .iso or something I'm doing wrong.

Thansk!

With NullDC you can just load the .cdi file through the file menu (normal boot or something) with chankast you are right with mounting to a virtual drive so that should be working for you.

Regards.

EDIT: pics, quickly done sorry for the quality. Not screen cap's as I am having problems with my network atm.

EDIT2: Sorry, should make it clear that NullDC is looking for a cdi file and chankast will boot an iso image, you could probably boot nulldc with an iso but this is the way I do it.

I'm getting a weird error with Chankast.  "Could not read TOC from e:".  I have the cd image mounted correctly in Daemon tools.  Any suggestions?  Perhaps I am using the wrong version of Daemon tools?  What version are you all using?

Also, any suggestions as to what program would be the best to use to convert original discs into ISO's that will work?  Will Nero work?  (.nrg extension).

Thanks in advance.

Edit:  I still cannot get this crappy vaporware to work (last updated in 2004).  I've also tried it on another machine using Alcohol 120% to mount it and I still receive the error "Could not read TOC from e:".  New ISO game was used and the same thing.  Original CD Dreamcast game used and the same.

What gives?  Anyone get this thing to work?

Sorry I cannot help with Chankast because I stopped using it a year ago.  I will tell you that Nulldc is head and shoulders better than Chankast in case you haven't tried it.

PowerStone 2 is the only reason I could come up with to still keep Chankast around.... everything else goes through NullDC latest beta.  And if I'm not mistaken, you can use NullDC beta 1 to run PowerStone 2 if you don't need to use the gamepad input plugin... (i.e. you're using a keyboard encoder as input.)

Yeah, it works for me with Nulldc as long as I choose 50hz and not 60.
