8liners universal 25" chassis for Videocolor tube?
« on: December 28, 2007, 08:55:32 am »
Hey all!

Since my polo 1 chassis is defective, I've been looking for a new one. Then I stumble on the 8liners
25" chassis a couple of minutes ago.

So, will that chassis fit my 25" Videocolor A59ECY13X01 tube? any heads-up for me?
will the plugs from the yoke fit the board etc...

Any generel information is more than welcome :)

Nicholas

Oh, by the way...is it 120v or 230v?? I live in 230v land.

It should fit and work.

You'd have to email 8liners and ask about what input voltage the chassis uses and if it can be set for 230 volts. Measure the voltage going to your existing monitor power connector in your game cabinet. Some already have a step down isolation transformer to drop 230 to 120 volts for the monitor.

Hantarex monitors use a special connector for the yoke. In fact, Hantarex uses a lot of special connectors that other monitor manufacturers don't use. See the step by step chassis replacement instructions at this site:

http://home.earthlink.net/~arcadeparts/index.html

Granted they don't show a Hantarex, but you'll get the idea.

Thanks!

Yes, I actually have an 230V to 120V stepdown lying around I used to use for a JAP DC.

So, what do you think about it? Should I wait for a POLO 1 or go this route?

Thanks!!

Nicholas

Hantarex has an office in the UK. Why don't you send your broken Hantarex chassis to them for repair?

Hey!

Yeah, that is an option, but what would seem most cost-effective?

I hate to sound stupid, but:

"Do not try to connect this chassis direct to the domestic power outlet available in the wall.
This chassis require isolation transformer, already installed in your video game. "

Why can't I just take power from the wall? what does an isolation transformer do?

With my Polo 1 chassis, I just took 230v from the wall socket to the board! Is that wrong
too? (and could that be why it doesn't work)

thanks,

Nicholas

hantarex polo 1 are designed for the european market and therefore are powered by 230v whereas the chassis you are looking at is 120v so you would also need a stepdown transformer
judging by the costs incurred with the transformer and shipping for the new chassis it would actually be cheaper for hantarex to repair your old one
whats the problem with your chassis anyway?

Hey!!

I already have a stepdown converter from my japanese Dreamcast, 230V -> 120V.
Just a little box you know.

So, do you mean that I can connect that directly to the chassis without a 'isolation
transformer'?

The link I got : http://home.earthlink.net/~arcadeparts/id11.html the red text close to
the bottom...

My polo 1 goes ZZZZZ....ZZZZZ....ZZZZZ (sound) and makes the white spot in the middle
of the tube.

Thanks,

Nicholas

i remember your problem now with the polo.
a stepdown transformer is isolated from mains so it does a similar job,if you buy one of these replacement chassis you will need to mess with the yoke connections as well-my advice get your polo chassis off to hantarex for a check
