Trade: Wico 3" tball for pcmcia nic (wired or 802.11b)
« on: May 08, 2003, 10:46:02 pm »
I am looking for either a 10, 10/100, or 802.11b pcmcia nic.
I have a 3" wico tball shell.  Your choice of either a scratched up white tball or a sctratched up translucent orange ball.  May need rollers and optics.

I got some :) (Read: A TON) of 10/100 nics. Do you have anything else you are willing to trade? I will let them go for less then you might guess. They are PCMCIA Type 2 (thick) They are Zircom and some Intel, and pretty new, when a company goes under, there are THOUSANDS of these things, all homeless :) (I picked them up for ~ 1 dollar a piece for about 20 of them, 5 of them turned up dead, the rest are good. I do use these in all of my laptops, so I need some around, but I can part with a few.

I would be interested in ANY joystick, or anything Arcade related at all! (Marquees, dead or working PCBs, ANYTHING) But I am not too interested in more trackballs, one of my connections is one of the world's largest Golden Tee operators, so he has a ton of these things all beat up.

Are those the RealPort Xircoms with the modem and NIC?  I love those cards...

If you cant find one for whatever reason, they turn up on ebay all the time.. they close between 15 and 25 dollars.  See http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?MfcISAPICommand=GetResult&query=xircom+pcmcia+realport&cgiurl=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.com%2Fws%2F&ht=1&from=R10&currdisp=2&itemtimedisp=1&st=2&SortProperty=MetaEndSort&BasicSearch=.

Model numbers?  Need to look if I can do a network install of linux with them.

I have this:

Also, the marquee on my cabinet.  I will be making a custom one.  That's all I have arcadewise right now.

If not a trade PM me, we'll make some sort of deal.  Especially if I can get more than one!

SirP, if you have an OfficeMax nearby keep an eye on the sale ads.  10/100 NICs go on sale for $5 all the time, and often they're free after mail in rebate.  Just another option.

I would let it go for anything (maybe even some buttons?) I really don't care too much about them (There are more down at the wherehouse (of a computer reseller nearby) not on inventory, I can probably get them for ~1 again)

Oh yea, it is a Realtek card, it is PCMCIA type2 it is pretty standard (I am 99.9% sure I used it with Mandrake 8.0 ) They don't have modems in them, they are those dongle-less ones, the RJ-45 plugs right into them.

Ahhh, I'd prefer an xjack card over a dongle.  Sounds cool, PM me the details and what you'd like for trade.

I have an 802.11b pcmcia nic i could afford to part with. (Out of the package, but brand new.) I really want a trackball, but not a busted up one.

I would trade you for that keyboard encoder, though. What condition is it in?

I'll second the motion on the keyboard encoder.  I too have a wireless NIC in brand new condition.  If Alan S or anthony don't snag it I might consider it.  I'm somewhat interested in the orange trackball, but I don't need the trackball hardware.  Is there any way to restore a trackball -- get out the scratches, etc.?

First, it isn't a busted trackball.  It works fine.  It just needs new internals, like rollers, bearings, I haven't looks, but it may need optics too, though I have one of it's optics sitting in front of me now.  i attached a picture of the tball on the bottom of this post.  One of the rollers is from happ, hence the one optic not in there right now.  The rollers are in bad shape (and missing one), at least the happ one :)  The bearing are ok, though I'd switch them with new ones if I were you.  I think I have a wiring harness around too, I'll have to look.

Second, I forgot to mention somethings about the IPAC, for those who PMed me I will respond to you in due time (it's a busy weekend and I still have a hangover, bachelor parties rule).  The IPAC is an OLD ipac.  It uses AT keyboard connectors.  The only way to program it is with the old software, not sure if you can still get that anywhere.  not sure if the new software will work too since the ipac has gone through many changes since that model.

In summary, here's a pic of the tball.  The IPAC is super old.  I will be responding to your PMs.
