help needed making my own mala layout

hi is there a step by step guide to making your own layout to work with mala?
I've searched the boards but couldn't find what i needed to know
i manage to resize game creatures blue in photoshop to fit my 19" monitor
but i want to make my own one from scratch
any help/advice please
