Change Machine
« on: October 16, 2007, 12:53:36 pm »
Hello All,

Anyone in the Chicago area have a used change machine?  I prefer Rowe,
but would be open to others.  This would be for my home arcade, so it
doesnt need to take new bills.  If you have anything, drop me a line.
Thanks in advance.

Anyone ever ttry building their own?

Michael

Yeah, my wife works at a bank too and gets me all the quarters I need.  I am looking to get a more real feel to my arcade and cannot seem to get a change machine for less than full price.

How hard would it be to wire in a button that simulates a dollar being inserted. Also, is it possible to "hot wire" the dispenser motor to just keep spitting out coins while the button is held? It seems to me that changers always internally count the coins, then dump them out.
Just curious if someone has input on the subject.

How's this for a totally ridiculous idea?  Make a chute from your coin mechs in your machines to a central location in the room and have a fancy mechanical gizmo lift them up and drop them into a dish for re-use.  Think fancy gum ball dispenser, meets bank vacuum tube, meets change machine.  I think I'll put that somewhere on page 4234985728921 of my list of totally bizarre but fun projects to do in my copious spare time.

Careful -- you're on the verge of technically having a casino in your house.  Hate to see any BYOAC'er put in jail!  :laugh2:

I could use my slot machine as a change machine, but I would prefer a separate unit.
