Sega Lets Go Jungle/Shore arcade rambling
« on: August 18, 2007, 07:50:13 am »
Was at the beach this week and one of the numerous arcades had the deluxe version of this game (the cabinet looks like a truck). Cost a buck a play, but man is it a fun and frantic shooter.
Also got to try the Target Terror shooter from Eugene Jarvis' company, and found that to be a lot of fun, if not groundbreaking.

I was in about 5 different arcades on a boardwalk too. The Need For Speed sitdown machines, had to have been a huge success. Every arcade I was in had two of them. Lots of the Class of 81 Pac Man/Galaga games too. Was hoping to find some old games, but the only thing I found from the 80's was a Kung Fu Master in the back of a pizza shop.

Actually the "Let's Go Jungle" is built to resemble a Jeep. This machine costs $20,000 to purchase so that's why it costs a buck a play. It is consistantly the highest earning game at the theater location I take care of.

Let's Go Jungle is the only game I play when my son and I go to the movies ... it's an absolute blast.

Sometimes I just can't justify putting 75 cents in an '81 reunion machine, even with the big screen.  50 cents is ok, since I play for a half hour or so.  I do agree with the jungle though, it was a blast to play for a buck!

Dual 50 Caliber Continuous Fire Leon Type Machine Guns......OH YEAH!!!!!

I paid 50 cents to play the Reunion machine and the stick was wasted... You had to hold it up and left or right to just barely move in Galaga. The high score on it was nearly 700,000. If the person did it with that stick, they must have arms like Popeye.

Doesn't it reset the score to zero and let you continue at the same level?

Nope.  That's why the score is so high.

Yeah, I noticed that the one time I played one of those machines and it suddenly felt pointless to play...
NO MORE!!
