question about grounds for my lights for my coin doors

So tonite I got my coin doors to work - i drop in a quarter, system registers.  Fine and dandy.  Anyways, on the one coin door, each light has its own separate power wire and ground wire.  However on the other door it has just a single power wire that feeds both lights, and a single ground cable.  Now this ground cable is also the ground for the switches, or common i should say.  Would it hurt anything if I ran said wire as a ground, or should i just rewire the lights?

Is this in a mame machine running a PC or an original cab?

If it's a mame/pc setup, I would separate the bulb ground from the coin switch ground.  The bulbs will run with a 12v dc power source and the ground from this power source will need to be isolated from the switch circuit. Not a good idea to send any stray voltages to your Ipac or Keywiz.

If the 12V is coming from your computer power supply you should be fine.  If this is a separate power supply, it could affect more than just the keywiz/ipac.  The safest bet is to isolate the 12V ground from the 5V ground though.

Good call.  I'm just going to re-wire the lights and have a separate ground.  Thanks gents.
